Very smooth feel. It cuts fairly quickly, I love the fact that no pre-soaking needed. I was able to refine the edges of my kitchen knives to the point where they were able to shave arm hair. This stone (4000 grit) is almost overkill for knives doing standard kitchen duty. The only con is stone is very low. My stone holder is barely able to hold it.
