CandleScience 12 Piece Medium Candle Tin, 6 oz

Like lots of people these days I'm on a DIY kick and that means all sorts of lotions and candles and even some cosmetics come out of my kitchen. I was planning on making a batch of body butter that would be given as gifts and went back and forth over the size to get until I finally chose this one and I'm glad I did. It's a perfect gift size. I'm sure I'll be buying these again. I had no problems getting the lids off and on, even when I had fresh lotion on my hands. In fact I like them so much I probably will buy the smaller size as well for passing out new recipes for my friends to try and critique as well as for traveling. Those pesky airline security people always pull me out for extra screening. But I digress, back to the review. Its a solid little tin that is well made and does what I want it to. That'll get it five stars in my book any day.

I greatly liked this product and would be highly likely to order again. I made body butters and salves. It's the perfect size. Tight fitting lid. Though I didn't find it too tight, it probably would be impossible if your hands were wet. It was easy to fill. Due to the brushed silver, it doesn't show fingerprints. The top circle isn't recessed which did make it a little more difficult to get a label on. Perfect size. I put roughly 4 oz of salve in each tin (filled it to the "fill" line). I'd probably order a slightly larger size for candles. It came with 12 tins and lids. Good, high quality product.

Love these tins. They are the perfect size both for testing and for small gifts. I will use them for testing my soy wax, scent, and color. Then when I make my larger candles I will test for wick size (hoping that all else stays constant by percentage weignt). Initially I used the Candlescience wicks that on Amazon are labeled as "large." I've already made several batches using these tins. They looked great, but when burned the flame was a little higher than I thought it should be, and there was a bit of wax on the sides. I'm now testing other wicks and experiementing with pour temperature. For me, one pound of soy wax (CS 444) makes 5 candles using these tins. I'd be curious to know the pour temperature and wicks that others are using.

I haven't tried liquids nor plan on doing that, but for storing herbs and spices they have been great. I did add some 1/2" flat earth magnets to the bottom and can stack 3 on top of each other but looking to modify that and mount on a magnetic knife strip on the wall in the future. For now, they work great.

Very good quality and value. I bout a dozen. These little tins will come in handy as spice jars, ointment tins, candle holders, button container, sand collecting, etc. very versatile! lids fit very well, and dimensions are accurate.
