After my $300 Diva ring light stopped working I decided to purchase this because it's cheaper and does the same thing. I will tell you from experience that this is essentially the same ring light as the $300 Diva brand. The only difference is the name on the packaging. The build quality is the same, the light output is the same, and even the light bulb itself can be traced back to the same manufacture (both Neewer and Diva purchase their bulbs from the same company).Let me explain why this light is essential for perfect selfies and portraits. It's all about light and color balance!Light is not always what it seems. Our eyes are very forgiving, so when we move from place to place everything seems normal in terms of color. So, for example, when moving from a bright daylight environment to a room lit by a candle all that will appear to change, to the naked eye, is the light level. Yet record these two situations using a camera and the first will have a blue hue and the latter will come out with a heavy orange cast (nobody likes orange skin in pictures). This is because our brain can quickly adjust to the changes, making white appear white, whereas our cameras are balanced for one particular color and anything that deviates from this will produce a color cast.The color variation is referred to as the color temperature and is measured in degrees Kelvin. The scale ranges from the flame of a candle at around 1900K to deep blue sky at around 10,000k as illustrated by the diagram I've included.The light source is listed next to the degrees in Kelvin, both set against the color of the light at each level.You will notice that the color next to the Average noon daylight (5500K) is white (which is what ring lights produce). This is the color temperature that cameras are balanced to which means that when shooting using a 5500K white balance, the photograph will record white objects as white and all the colors in an image will appear natural. If you shoot in conditions that measure a higher temperature the photo will start to become bluer and shoot in conditions below the 5500 temperature and they will increase in orange.The colors here don't just relate to daylight conditions artificial light also introduces a color cast. With fluorescent lights this is often green and with tungsten lighting it will be yellow, while flash can be slightly blue.If you own a digital camera you may have read about the white balance control. Most digital cameras have an automatic color balance. This will look at a scene and if it thinks the color is too blue it compensates to make it natural by adding a red shift to the colors recorded. Likewise if it sees an orange scene it will increase the blue content. A 5500K ring light is perfect because not only does it produce a consistent color of light, but it surrounds your face with light and gives dimensions to your facial features.Have fun!

Excellent purchase for the price. After researching which light to buy first for my photo/video needs I decided to start with a ring light. I’m not a professional photographer/videographer but I needed better lighting for YouTube productions (hair and makeup tutorials as well as talks) and product photography. The Neewer Ring light was priced competitively and does a very good job for my needs. As I stated, this was my first light purchase/investment. I was iffy on this. Half the reviews were good and half were bad, saying their light didnt want to turn on. Well i just got mine today and it did not want to turn on either! lol I undid the screw on the bottom and detached the light, it was just one of the wires wasnt in the right spot, it was hanging out, i pushed it back in and reattached the light and connected it and voila! It works and i looooove it !

I’ve had my ring light for 4years now and it still works perfect! Would recommend. FYI it does not come with the ring light stand, other than that it’s a really good light

I have been using this as a fill light in my studio for nearly one year and a half and it totally fulfills its purpose. It's huge and easy to use. Lighting is even and sufficient to light up a large space. The only weak point is that the bulb is likely to break if the light is knocked over, so if your light stand is not stable enough sandbags are needed to help ensure the balance.

OKAY So less than a year ago a friend bought me one as a gift. Two weeks ago my last Neewer ring light (14") just stopped working. I turned the switch to cut it on and I saw a little spark near the on/off switch. I assumed My bulb Blew-it didn't. Im extremely frustrated bc I am a hairstylist and the light helps with my photos. I had an extremely busy week so instead of waiting for a replacement order or whatever I used my PRIME and ordered another one, (18') and TODAY, LESS THAN A week later the SAME EXTACT thing happened. "brand new light" but there is an electric problem-which it isn't the bulbs bc I recently took the my 14" light to a light bulb store near me (why throw the light away just replace the bulb and use both I thought) and replacing the bulb isn't the problem, the ring light itself is the issue. On top of all of that, the on and off switch appears to be backwards. I'm extremely annoyed and unsatisfied. These damn lights are poorly made. not worth it. You will be buying one every few months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Todo bien, el tiempo de llegada fue la correcta y no tuve problemas, sólo le hubiera gustado que trajera los anillos para nivelar la intensidad, pero por el precio, es muy bueno todo.

Larger than I thought it would be, but works great. No complaints. Nice and bright. Works right out of the box. Has a hard shell around the light to protect it and comes with a padded carrying case for storage and travel.Would highly recommend to fellow photogs.

I can’t believe I am only writing a review now but I have had this Ring light for YEARS! I can’t even begin to explain the amazing quality and the way it has helped me as a Makeup Artist really showcase my work! The only thing is I wish I got a dimmable one because I use it so much & it’s soooo bright! But illegitimately amazing still works perfectly after 4/5 years
