Modern Quilts Block by Block

So let me start by saying, I AM A BIG FAN of Emily Dennis quilt patterns,..they are clear, concise and super organized.The one thing I really don't like about this book is the type print for the fabric cutting,..it's way too light and almost dull,..it's just hard to see.

I just received this book and am very excited to start sewing. I had been looking for a good baby quilt and the perfect project is in this book! The book is very sturdy for a paperback and I only have one complaint which is to agree with another reviewer about the type print...very light. A suggestion would be to have added some directions on making binding and piecing the quilt backing. I know how to do this but a beginner would appreciate the instructions. Overall this is a great book and will be a permanent addition to my quilt library.

I love Emily's first book! It is full of approximately a dozen gorgeous patterns that are beautifully illustrated! The colors are bright and crisp. The directions are clearly written with diagrams of cutting instructions, especially if you use precuts. One of my favorite things about the book is the flap on the inside of both the front and back cover to hold your place in the book. What a great feature so you don't lose your place! Thank you, Emily, for all the work you put into this beautiful book! I hope you will consider doing a second one some day.

The patterns are fun and modern. I find the material requirements section to be confusing. They should clearly correspond to the block pictures - Fabric A, B, C, etc. I shouldn't have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what fabric is what.

Emily is a Modern Quilt designer with great patterns. This is her first book and it is fantastic. Easy to follow instructions. Each quilt is from a single block and you can combine them for a sampler in the last quilt in the book. She is very creative and I love this book.

I love the quilts in this book. They are modern and fresh. For the quilts themselves I would give 5 stars. My only reason I would consider giving it 4 stars is that the writing color chosen by the publisher is gray and just not as easy to read as I wish it was. Why not black? That's the only fault though, so I went with 5 stars, as Emily has written easy to understand directions and I want to make all the quilts. That doesn't always happen with most quilting books so this is a great win for me!!

Found a quilt pattern I really liked nbut could not find it online to purchase. Discovered the quilt book that it was in, so purchased the book and got more beautiful patterns, too! Great book, great price!

I love this talented designer. This book offers many lovely projects, all of them simple, colorful and modern with easy to follow instructions. I highly recommend!!!
