John Lee Hooker worked from a stylistically limited palette, and the gutbucket blues stomp of his signature songs like "Boogie Chillun" and "Boom Boom" remained enduring and influential because of their simple, primal structure. Like an old junkyard dog, Hooker only knew a few tricks, but he did them so well that it really never mattered. This 20-track collection from Snapper Records is drawn from his years with Vee Jay Records, and does a good job of dropping the listener into Hooker's reverb-laden, swampy world. Both the above songs are included here, along with a pair of interesting and atmospheric modal blues pieces, "Moanin' Blues" and "Dirty Ground Hog," and a marvelous and soulful version of "Don't Look Back" that shows Hooker really did know a few other ways to the river. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi

I like him, I like it
He has periods in life, I like it, thats all I will say. Listen to the samples. He is gone now so anything is nice to have. Found & bought from Amazon when I was looking for his "Live at cafe au Go Go( and Soledad Prison) I do not think you will be terribly disappointed

The One & Only.
A wonderful farewell from the one and only. Despite being in his eighties when he recorded this and i believe his final recording, this album is great. That style, That voice.

Blues gem
Another John Lee Hooker classic from the 1990's, this one being his last recorded output before passing away in 2001.Loaded with 'hooks' galore, this outing does not disappoint.

A John Lee album essential.
This is definitely an album for your colllection or if you like extended play blues music during a long social event or just hanging around the house. The music selection is very well balanced and John Lee's vocals are sure to impress.
