Full of helpful tips
This book is chock full of useful information. It is very reader friendly with a table of contents, index, and references. Tables highlight important information on a variety of topics from treatment goals to data collection. Short chapter sections and graphically organized information make it easy to flip through to the appropriate section of the text. The narrative is accessible and friendly for both instructors and parents, with a list of questions for each at the end of each chapter. The Koegels frame PRT within the historical context of Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism interventions, explaining why PRT is an advancement. After the introduction to PRT in chapter 1, chapter 2 teaches the reader how to teach motivation. I first became interested in PRT because of motivation-- and trouble getting clients motivated. I was finding that after a while, some clients were still unhappy with sessions and displaying disruptive or non-compliant behavior to escape the tasks. This felt wrong to me, but I struggled with how to incorporate goals into more naturalistic methods and get clients motivated. The PRT Pocket Guide has solved my problem and I feel like things are more successful now with less struggle.

My son went from not speaking one word at almost 3 to an inquisitive 4 year old
Easy read, super useful application that you can apply immediately. I highly recommend this book. My son was diagnosed ASD at 3. Spoke barely 1-2 words. We applied a lot of what we read here before getting accepted to the Stanford program. By the time we did the parent training at the Stanford program, it was more of a refresher. My son is now a talkative 4 almost 5 year old and super inquisitive. Behaviorally it's night and day. Once he's able to communicate, all the disruptive behavior went away. It's less than $30 and not much time to read and apply. Not much to lose to give a try with your own kiddo.

Excellent material for the serious pupil.
This is a VERY informative and helpful book, but it pretty deep and requires a lot of concentration to comprehend it.

Informative and well written PRT/ABA guide
As a BCBA and therapist who has previously worked with the Koegels for over 4years, I have all of their manuals and books. This new and updated guidebook is a wonderful resource for parents, teachers, and clinicians/therapists alike who want to learn more About general ABA principles and especially PRT. Great book that is easy to read and follow, with examples and stories imbedded. Anyone working with special needs children, not just autism, should be familiar with naturalistic interventions such as PRT, and this book is the ideal place to,start and learn. Highly recommend.

The PRT Pocket Guide
The PRT Pocket Guide was recommended by the ABA therapist who works with my 18 month old grand-daughter. I wanted to know as much as possible about her therapy, and this book is a good guide to the type of therapy that seems to work best for children who are having delays in communication and/or showing symptoms on the autism spectrum. It's a first look at the therapy and not a complete book of the therapy. I do recommend it.

PRT Pocket Guide
Excellent resource for special educators, speech/communication professionals, parents etc who understand the importance of motivation and teaching children with autism and other developmental disabilities in natural contexts. Only evidence-based practices are recommended, all written in user-friendly language. I highly recommend the Koegels' book ... two of the most respected researchers when it comes to working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It will be a required text in my courses on behavioral methods of instruction and ASD courses at The University of Georgia.

Love this book
It is a nice summary of PRT approach. I got some great ideas from this book that have helped me work with my son in naturalistic settings throughout the day. He learnt to ask "wh questions" really fast when I followed suggestions in this book.
