There was a lot of great information from obvious real world experience. Very valuable to the beginner as well as the more experienced. Excellent value also. Thank you for the clear wealth of information.

Informative, well organized, well illustrated book. If you have an appreciation for knives or consider yourself a knife enthusiast, you will enjoy this excellent book. Highly recommended.

Nothing new here folks. Nothing about using knives except a few how to knife fight tidbits. Very disappointed but at least it was cheap.

my son wants to learn to be a "man" which means taking care of your 'tools' ... your knives, guns, and workshop tools. he loves the book, and has almost finished it in the 10 days since he has gotten it.

The book provided intriguing information on various knives. I highly recommend it to any chef, hunter, or any one with interest in knives.

Thought maybe limited reference book. Not so.

The Edge Masters Handbook, is an up to date, very informative read to the novice, and to the semi-expert of knives, and the many aspects of knife making, steel types, knife styles, and other variances. I was a little disappointed that Cold Steels Tri-ad lock wasn't mentioned, as it is a supremely strong locking mechanism, but peaple can be either fans, or predudice againest Cold Steel products, rightly or wrongly, it's just a matter of opinion, I get the impression that the author's not a fan! Iol! Not too worry, he provides a lot of good information, based on personal experiences with knives, and also brings into question claims certain other knife makers make about some of their particular models. The author gives a lot of honest answers, and asks a lot of probing questions, which he answers most satisfactorily, and the " need to know " kind of questions. I can't wait for a follow up! I had the miss fortune of purchasing The Shooter's Bible guide to knives. OMG! What a boring, out of date read! The author has about as much personality as cardboard cutout! Out of date information, and if uou need a book to read to put you to sleep at night, this book is it!!! BORING!!!

The author is clearly very capable and experienced in all aspects of knife carry and use. The publication is well rounded and covers most of what individuals new to knife carry need to know. This is not to say that more experienced knife owners can’t learn something from this book.Mr. McDougall discusses some knife brands that he has utilized, although I would prefer (my opinion only) that this topic not be included and instead produce a book that omits brand reviews. My reason for this comment is simply that knife use, preferences, requirements, etc. is mostly subjective to each knife owner/user and environment implemented. Therefore knife reviews would be better dedicated to a publication that overviews, tests and compares knife types, brands and usage requirements under a title dedicated to that topic. Although it is good to hear his direct experience in utilizing certain knife types and styles.4 Star rating = Authors experience and book coverage.
