Just a gag gift
My brother used to enjoy Sgt. Rock when he was a boy, so I got him this book as a gag. Did he even read it? He never said he did. Perhaps he sold it at a yard sale....

AWESOME!!!
I love this little comic digest! It's hard for me to find any Sgt. Rock comics, so this was a superb alternative. I say "alternative" because it's not comic book sized, but it's the size of a "Reader's Digest". Since it is also all in color, I'm even more impressed.Recommended? Abso-freaking-lutely!

The Rock of Easy Company!
Growing up in small-town America in the 1950s, one of my biggest comic book favorites was Sgt. Rock and his combat-happy Joes of Easy Company. SGT. ROCK'S COMBAT TALES, VOLUME I brings together seven Sgt. Rock tales and three other war stories from the pages of STAR SPANGLED WAR STORIES, G.I. COMBAT and OUR ARMY AT WAR. Who says you can't go home again?Robert Kanigher was the talented scribe responsible for the Sgt. Rock stories found in this 2005 DC Comics release. Far from mindless entertainment, Kanigher's stories were exciting, hard-hitting and eye-opening, at least to an impressionable young lad like me.Various artists illustrated Kanigher's work but chief among them was Joe Kubert. Kubert was absolutely superb. His wonderfully impressionistic drawings brought such Kanigher tales as 'Rock and the Wall,' '3 Stripes Hill' and 'Calling Easy Co.' to vivid life. The other artists found in VOLUME I simply aren't in Kubert's league.Whether you're revisiting an old friend or making your first acquitance with Sgt. Rock, odds are you'll enjoy SGT. ROCK'S COMBAT TALES. Recommended.
