FINALLY!
FINALLY, after so so long, I am introduced to the amazing and famous Robert Langdon.Yes this is my first Dan Brown read. Being told numerous times by my friends (both readers and non readers) how great Dan Brown's books are, I finally do it. And I gotta be honest, I didn't feel it.It's not like I didn't like it from the very beginning. I was hooked for 3/4th of the book. And by hooked I mean, sleep was irrelevant the night I read this book. All I wanted was to know what happened in the next chapter. With each page, it was intense and thrilling. And there were several moments that completely blew my mind away. One thing I have to say is I frigging commend Dan Brown for doing so much research and getting his facts right. That made the story more realistic and less fictional. The read was going so well until it reached a point where I legit went "ARE YOU FRIGGING KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!! NOO THIS ISN'T HOW IT SHOULD END?!!" *siigh* I was honestly frustrated when the story took that turn. It was going so well and I was thoroughly enjoying it, but the ending blew it for me. I was genuinely disappointed. But, don't let this stop you from picking this book up and giving it a shot. Most of the people who have read this book loved it. Just because I didn't like it doesn't mean you wouldn't like it too. This isn't the first time I'm part of a minority :P

A brilliant work full of action, mystery & facts.
Talk about plot twists in Dan Brown books. They will leave you bewildered. The books are filled with so much information, not ordinary but those that will force you to google them and read articles about them. And I literally did that. Angels and demons was the second book I read of Dan Brown though it's the first in the Robert Langdon series. It's about the centuries old rift going on between God and Science. And this book opens with a murder of a Renowned Physicist, Leonardo Vetra, who is brutally killed & branded with a perfect ambigram of a centuries old secret society named " Illuminati" & Robert langdon being a religious symbologists is called to verify it's authencity as it's believed that the group no more exists since centuries but as of now they have resurfaced, Langdon find himself already too deep in the matter to turn back, his adventures begin along with Vetra's daughter Vittoria. Astonishing discoveries are made, people are murdered and secrets are spilled. This book was a definite page turner for me. Full with facts, history and of course Langdon leading the path there is never a dull moment. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

Angels and demons is the first books that I picked written by Dan Brown after a friend's recommendation and it was so exhilarating that I was captivated from the beginning till the end. I was on the edge by the plot and couldn't put it down till I finished it. I love how the story had science and religion as the base and the whole book revolved around it. The characterization, the plot, the narration was very good and I can say that I have never read a book like this before.Yeah the book was lengthy but I didn't get bored by it, in fact, I was hooked till the end. After finishing it I heard that the other books in the series are far better than this! Now I am very much excited to read the other books in the Robert Langdon series 'cause I really loved this one.So this is the first book in the Robert Langdon series. The story starts with the murder of a renowned scientist who also believed in God and was trying to prove his existence with the help of science. An ancient society presumed extinct which goes by the name of Illuminati takes responsibility for his murder and is all set to finally takedown religion after centuries of war between science and religion.Kohler, the director of CERN asks Robert Langdon a specialist in symbology to solve the murder of his scientist.Camerlengo, a priest in The Vatican realizes that the church is in danger along with many Cardinals and people present inside it and he is all set to save everyone even at the cost of his own life. How are all these things related to each other and how did Illuminati manage to survive for so long and infiltrate the church? Will Robert Langdon be able to solve the puzzle and save the day? What is the devastating new weapon which is threatening to eliminate the religion? Who will win this race against time? This was an amazing thriller book that kept me intrigued until the end. I would suggest this book to every thriller book lover.

A heck of roller-coaster ride
Wow! Simply Wow. A heck of roller-coaster ride. Fast-paced, breathless thriller. If you are fan of reading Thriller/Mystery books, this is the one you need to read first before reading anything. I was so -so fascinated and was involved by the plot Dan Brown has depicted in this book "Angles & Demons". The description of Vatican City had made feeling in my mind just to visit Sacred city once in my life. Thanks Dan Brown for such a wonderful real-time adventure.

Never Boring to Read
The twists will leave you perplexed. Angels and demons was the first book I read of Dan Brown. It's about the centuries old differences going on between God and Science. The book is full of so much information not ordinary but those that will force you to research about it. And I did that, especially about the Illuminati. This book was a definite favorite for me. I couldn't stop reading it until it got over. There was never a moment when I became bored of his writing.I highly recommend you to read this book.

Thriller redefined
When in the year 2000 The Da Vinci Code appeared Dan Brown took the world by storm. Thriller genre was redefined. Following year the sequel Angels And Demons was published and it became an instant hit. I read it in 2001 and since then I have been purchasing Angels And Demons for gifting on various occasions. So I bought it again in 2019 September. Most of the Dan Browns have been made into major films. Keep it in your collection. The astonishing speed will grab you by the collar.

Angels and demons
Angels and DemonsApproximately fifteen years ago I was introduced to the writing of Dan Brown. More by accident than design I picked up a copy of his entertaining but controversial book ‘The Da Vinci Code’ and read it over a day or two. However the story of the main character, symbologist Robert Langdon did not begin with that book it commenced in Brown’s earlier publication ‘Angels and Demons’.An eminent scientist is murdered and items relating to his work are removed from his laboratory. Simultaneously the leaders of the Catholic Church are about to go into conclave to elect a new pope. Unbeknownst to the cardinals four of their number disappear just prior to conclave commencing. There is also evidence of the missing laboratory item having been placed on the grounds of Vatican City. Rumours abound of the return of a historical anti-Catholic organisation known as the Illuminati.Langdon is brought in because of his historical knowledge of the Illuminati. Drawing on his knowledge he follows the Illuminati trail across Rome in an effort to find who the modern day perpetrators are. Assisted by the murdered scientists daughter and having access to the Vatican archives Langdon finds evidence of Church secrets going back many centuries. In a book which simultaneously highlights the spiritual core of the Catholic Church whilst challenging the concept of Papal infallibility Brown creates a drama which keeps readers guessing right until the last pages. Made into a successful but sadly inferior movie the book enriches the reader with its attention to detail and its emphasis on the historical evolution of the Catholic Church. Brown makes public the perhaps privately held view that the Church has focused on suppressing the human spirit to fit into a narrative of its own making.I enjoyed my return to this eminently readable book. Truthful? Who knows. It certainly raises questions on topics that the Catholic Church has always regarded as being sacrosanct. Written several hundred years ago I suspect Brown might have had to deal with a lot more direct criticism from the Vatican than he actually received. However one thing is clear and that is the Catholic Church’s actions then and now shows its human frailty and human limitations more clearly than I suspect they would like?

Very enjoyable if you like ancient mysteries and secret societies...
I loved it. It is one of these books you can't put down once your start. I am a lover of conspiracy theories, so, Angels and Demons appealed to me. I only bought it because the author is well known but I did not expect it to be so good. I thought it would be a lot of hype and little substance. Nope, you can feel a lot of research has been done. Robert langdon's character is great and you would like to know more about his life, why he is still a bachelor etc... but the best bits were about the history of the Illuminati and the science bits. This I really enjoyed while learning a lot.Sometimes, the descriptions do go on a bit, like if you are in a classroom, so, I may have fastworded the reading a bit. Mea culpa! but I will still rate this book 5 stars.I did not write about the plot, plenty of other reviewers have done this much better than I would.

Angels and Demons
Symbologist Robert Langdon is called to CERN following the murder of one of the scientists apparently by the Illuminati. Soon he finds himself caught up in a series of events that has the world watching to see what will happen next.I love the film version of Angels and Demons but after finally reading the book I have to say I prefer it over the movie. The book is in places completely different to the film and contains characters not in the film version. To me the book is the complete story and I'm glad I read it.If you've seen the film, do yourself a favour and read the book. You won't regret it.

Enter Robert Langdon
Not the first book by Dan Brown but the first book to feature Robert Langdon who is a well fleshed out believable and likeable character. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader occupied whilst posing thought provoking questions about science and God.A word of caution, this has been made into a film but the films were made in the wrong order with this book being made second and several characters and their actions and motives were altered substantially for the film, so if you saw the film and were dissatisfied try the book as I am certain you will not be disappointed. After all, the original source material is nearly always better than the Hollywood interpretation.

An all action read.
From the very start this book never lacks pace. A great story with lots of interesting detail. However one event in the book seemed t o be confused by a similar event later in the book ,the event being the branding again of the same man. I went back and reread but could not fathom it out.Anyway a jolly good read but it did have a very boring theological debate in it about 50 pages from the end that was quite unnecessary and very tedious. The End seemed to drag on and on but I kept going. It was going to be a 4star but it scrapped in as a 5 .
