I bought this set as a Christmas present for my 4 year old son and it has quickly become one of his most favorite toys. It has become a permanent fixture in our living room as it hasn't been put away since December 26th (almost 2 months ago), not because we don't clean but because our efforts would be futile since we play with this set daily. And yes, you read that correctly...I said we because it has become a family affair. This toy is so much fun that my husband and I love to get in on the action. We’re seriously considering getting a second set so we can make the runs bigger longer. In regards to durability, this set has stood up to daily use in our household. It is also the go-to set at my son’s daycare. They have a couple different sets but the Discovery Toys set is definitely the best as the pieces fit together well, the connectors don’t crack under pressure and the marbles glide easily. This set is a little pricier than others but I can honestly say that it was worth it. That being said, I think I’ll just suck it up and go buy a second set.

My grandkids love this. Endless possibilities, the more they use it the more creative options for building a marble run the come up with! My grandkids are 6-11 and they all love it.

I was so happy to be able to gift this Discovery Toys Marbleworks Set to my 5-yr-old grandson! My own son had the original Discovery Toys Marbleworks Set many years ago, and I remembered we got years of play out of it. This set is a sturdy set for little hands to play with as they create their own marble run! It is a quality set, and yes, it does cost a bit more than some of the other marble run kits out there, but it will last a long time! My grandson literally couldn’t stop playing with it! Tip: purchase an extra pack of marbles!

I do love this set, which I bought for my three year old. It's sturdy, and he is able to build it with some slight help from me because it needs more firm pressure than he can provide. Thankfully he's not super interested in rearranging the set. My issue is that one of the pieces arrived broken, and I tried contacting Discovery Toys, and they wont provide me a replacement piece since it was purchased through Amazon. And Amazon doesn't offer to exchange it since it's just fulfilled by Amazon, not sold by. I can return it and try and order a new one, however, we just got the set yesterday and my son is obsessed with it, and he would be so heart broken if I took it away. It is worth that fight in order to replace the start gate? (One of the nubbins that connects the start gate together is missing) I'm not sure yet...I have to think about it. It's truly a shame that I can't get someone to just send me the one piece that we got broken. Update (7/9/2014): I'm happy to say that I've upgraded my review from a 3 to 5 stars. I was contacted by the seller after my purchase to see if I was satisfied. I told them my issue and they, without hesitation, sent me a brand new set out (arrived quickly, two days later). Super happy! I just wish the settings on Amazon was a little more helpful in resolving this type of issue. Oh, and my 3 year old son has been playing with this set daily since we got it 3 weeks ago.

For some reason, when I got these, they didn't seem as sturdy as the Marbleworks set that I had as a child 25 or so years ago. I got this set when my daughter was three, and it wasn't something she could really do on her own at that age--which is alright, it was a toy we played together with. Now, she's 5 1/2 and getting the hang of building with this set on her own. 5+ really seems like the perfect age for this toy. This set comes with plenty of fun and basic pieces, and none of the pieces have broken in two years of use, so maybe they're sturdier than I thought initially. My mom was a Discovery Toys salesperson when I was a kid, and I have really fond memories of playing with this toy alone and with my siblings. I think my daughter enjoys it, too.

Bought two of the starter kits and I couldn't be more delighted, so much fun! The only thing that was a let down are the marbles, because the picture shows bright colored balls and it came with clear with a few colors inside. Very hard to see for racing and how do I find more marbles this size, nothing from my bag of marbles would work?

This marble run set came with absolutely no instructions or directions — just a box filled with plastic pieces. The packaging says it includes 46 pieces and mentions being able to “design, construct, and reconfigure an endless number of thrilling and workable marble lines,” which sounds great… but unfortunately there were no illustrations or example builds included at all to help you get started. So basically, you’re completely on your own figuring out how the pieces connect and what layouts actually work. That being said, after some trial and error, we did get a track put together, and my grandson has definitely had fun playing with it. It’s entertaining, and once you get something built, it runs the way it should. However, we still had plenty of pieces left over, which makes me think that if we’d had even a simple picture guide or a few suggested configuration ideas, we could have built a much better (and bigger) marble run and gotten more out of the full set. ✅ Pros: Fun, keeps kids engaged, encourages creativity ❌ Cons: No instructions, no build examples, frustrating setup Overall, it’s a good toy once assembled — I just wish the company included basic directions or diagrams to make it easier and more enjoyable to build.

I bought Marble Works by Discovery Toys for my kids over 35 years ago. The pieces from that set are still in pretty good shape. Because I now have 19 grandchildren, I felt the need to increase my supply of Marble Works sets, but could not find any. I tried other Marble sets, but they were difficult to set up and many pieces were broken within a year. I am so happy that Discovery Toys decided to manufacture this excellent product again. The purchase is more than well worth the money for looks and durability and is so easy to assemble. Believe me, if you have tried sets from other companies, you will know that nothing compares in quality to Marble Works by Discovery Toys.
