Octonauts Review of the show and the books
LOVE these books! My son watches the show and fell in love with the characters, so we searched and ordered the books from overseas. The educational aspect is fantastic - and I'm a marine biologist! These works by the MEOMI team actually inspired me to review the Octonauts in an aquatic blog:[...]They are so successful at our house, we have even purchased some of the action figures and are hoping eventually for DVD releases too. If you like the show, they are virtually word for word with the books. I would place the show at the preschool level, but the books easily reach to a higher level (it is up to the reader).Enjoy!

Read and enjoy again and again!
Everyone in our household loves the Octonauts - our Sky + box contains almost all of the 52 episodes (along with a fair few Creature Reports), so until we can free up the hard disc when the DVDs come out (as surely they will soon??) we were all delighted to see new books released, especially as they relate to two of our daughter's favourite episodes. The book is colourful and introduces the crew at the start, before going into the story which contains illustrations and text from the episode. There is also a "Captain's Log" at the end of the book which gives information on the whale shark and useful facts about the creatures and Octonauts are printed in the corner throughout the book.Like the episodes, the books bring the morals of friendship, helping one other and sharing across in an excellent way with lovable characters (Tunip the Vegimal is a big favourite in our house) who interact brilliantly with each other. My only gripe is the "as seen on TV" badge embossed on the cover as I feel it cheapens it slightly. Everyone with pre-school children knows the Octonauts are on TV as, at the moment, that is pretty much the only place they are until the toys and other merchandise are released in mid July this year.I would thoroughly recommend these books and hope that more based on the episodes will be published in the near future (personally I'm hoping for The Marine Iguanas and the Snot Sea Cucumber!)Read and enjoy again and again!

Beautiful!
This book is beautiful. The colors are vibrant, the pictures are crisp and take up the whole page. Of note, the story is a bit long so if your using it as a bedtime read be prepared if your child is like mine and wants it read over and over...Other than that, sweet and educational, just like the series!

Swallowed by a Whale Shark!
This is a fabulous book to read to preschoolers and key stage 1 children. Very competent under 8s might be able to read it unaided if they are used to the names in the series. There's lots of fun text, some brilliant characters and eye catching, bright illustrations with lots of detail. There is an added bonus aquarium competition plus kids go free vouchers to download from the simonandschuster website. In this story the explore, rescue and protect Octonauts have to rescue Dashi from the cave she's exploring which turns out to be the inside of a whale shark. There are fact boxes dotted around which e.g. explain what a filter feeder is and what gills do.I'm very impressed at how educational this book is while still being very entertaining. Much better than childrens TV tie-in titles from the past.Highly recommended.
