I got my first hydrocolloid bandage roll last month and was very happy with it, wondering "why have I not heard of this product category before?" It was immediately useful, so I was excited to be able to get another roll of it... figuring there was likely not much difference between one manufacturer or another. I was wrong: this "MasterMo" product is inferior in all ways to an equally-priced (and also-Chinese import) product.Right out of the box the experience was better with the other manufacturer's tape: with a nice "pull here" tab vs. just being scotch-taped closed. There was a gap on either side of their tape from the backing, whereas this roll has no gap...so there's nowhere to get a finger-hold to peel it off. (If you think this is nitpicking then you should try it both ways, and tell me if you're not convinced that the gap on the sides is a requirement.)Then there's the substance itself. One of the things I liked about the hydrocolloid was that it was thick like a flattened noodle: the substance that was on it helped heal, you could just put it on regular skin and take it off and it was like you'd used moisturizer. The MasterMo product is less a layer of artificial skin and more like... a piece of tape. Anyway, it can work in a pinch--but I'm glad it wasn't my first experience with a hydrocolloid roll, as I would have been a lot less impressed by the concept.
