built for heavy home owner use
I bought this brushless impact driver to add with my other porter 20v impact(brush) so myself and father can start building his barn.In just a few days i have driven 0ver 400 2 -3/4 galvanized screws for my fencing project. compared to the brush model this sucker is obviously smaller and lighter. not only is it a dream to handle, the batteries last longer for sure. this was a good buy for sure cause i am one of those individuals that need a drill that is a higher quality drill than say a harbor freight brand, but not a high end pro series drill from a millwaukee or makia. Porter cable is a good "middle of the road' quality that should do the trick for years to come for what i would consider i would consider heavy home owner use. My next set of drills no doubt will be "brushless" as they are the real deal. Will my next set be a Porter Cable?...something tells me they are going to stop producing cordless products due to excessive competion and being owned by stanley black & decker...whom own Craftsman, dewalt etc...either way i do not plan on wasting money on a dewalt or millwaukee due to the big money and serious overkill!this impact will last a long time for sure...even with weekly use or daily?. it has all the features one would need and more than enough power.I did drive six 4.5" screws with ease into some 4x4 treated post. I just cant stress how happy i am with this impact...and my other brush impact, however it is a little taller and wider. either way Porter cable makes a fantastic cordless lineup...i have all of the 20v tools and use all of them on a regular basis. go buy some after market 4-5 amp batteries and you could literally run a drill or circular saw all day long. I just hate to here the rumors and obvious lack of space at Lowes that Porter Cable is fading away, and most likely going to be the next to be extinct.

Purchased with my own money
Why is it that the first twenty out of 27 reviews to date are reviews for products given for free? Never trust those reviews because they are paid to say nice things about even crappy products. I paid full retail for mine and I use it, so this is not a paid pretend review.Truth be told. It's very light. It's single speed only, trigger controlled, but very fast - you have to be careful on the trigger not to drive it too fast and overshoot, like driving the screw head halfway through the piece. You get used to the trigger quickly. I like how it transitions from regular screwdriver to impact when the going gets tough - most of the time it's just a regular twisty. When driving bigger screws or nuts, impact kicks in hardly without notice. It's amazingly effective as a cordless drill too, just a bit slower. With a full charge, it was NOT able to loosen one lugnut on my truck or my wife's small sedan. Not that I expected it would, could or should - just pointing out that some of the paid reviewers might have had loose lugnuts on their cars when they wrote their reviews or they faked it.I like that it came with two batteries. I like the charger, a regular benchtop version with a regular size plug; the battery fits on the charger as your expect. The batteries are puny but with two of them and needing only 50 minutes full charge from flat is more that adequate to keep me empowered and happy.Best thing though... I can now drive Phillips-head screws flush without the bit jumping out and stripping the screw head or bit. I was constantly cursing at my old power screwdriver which had all the power needed but could not get the screws in without enormous pressure - a task which is impossible to achieve in most real-world cases where you work at arm's length. As for shear power driving 3/8" x 3" lug bolts into 4x4 treated lumber posts, this impact is about as effective as my Milwaukee M18 fuel which is simply a twist motor with loads of torture. This is my first cordless impact driver, happy to say that my screaming Milwaukee is now demoted to the dissatisfactory tools collection, soon all but forgotten. (If you ever used a Milwaukee cordless driver, your know why I say those suckers are loud!)My wife loves this one also because it's so light, she declared it her new favorite tool after one minute of use. Makes two of us.I like that it's light -- but that might also be it's downfall. It does not feel sturdy, I've dropped my retired tool many times without issue -- not sure this Porter Cable will withstand an 8' drop off a ladder. Maybe should have taken that warranty...

Replaced older one that failed
Bought this to replace a porter cable impact driver, whose Chuck just won’t hold the bed anymore. So annoying but sticking with the same battery system, bought this replacement, and I appreciate getting the additional battery and charger with an improved impact driver for a good value set. Has performed very well in a number of jobs and this model seems to go easier on the battery as well. Happy with it.
