Loved the Series, but this set will NOT play on the X-Box One series - be warned.
Loved the series. As an original Star Wars Fan Club member who saw the actual Star Wars in a theater so many times that I lost count, the Ahsoka series was the first time I felt that sense of wonder rising from the new era of Disney Star Wars. Yes, I enjoyed The Mandalorian, but it felt very narrow and isolated compared to the wide open universe that once splashed across the big screen way back when. It took me a while to get into the Clone Wars series, because I couldn't understand why we want to go over a story that just wrapped up over and over again. After a few seasons, it found its footing and I really began to enjoy it. The same can be said of Rebels. Again, we're stuck in a period with characters that I did not care about. It took a few seasons for Rebels to find its way and again, I began to enjoy it. Then something happened. I suddenly became aware of new stories and characters in the Star Wars universe that we worth caring about again. It was a series of new stories that felt like it was building to -- something. And then it was all cut off. No ending. No explanations. Thankfully, The Mandalorian and now Ahsoka picked up some of those narrative threads and continued the story. I suddenly cared about this new cast of characters and I really loved seeing them all come to life in Ahsoka. It felt like Star Wars again. There was something new, something old, something borrowed, and someone -- blue? Seeing Thrawn in these stories is a bit of a double-edged sword. It hurt to know that the great stories of the Thrawn Trilogy were being ignored, but in some small way, I used this to legitimize those tales. They were never sold to us as some sort of "What If?" maybe this is an "Elseworlds" that could happen in an "Expanded Universe." We were sold STAR WARS. The blurbs cried out "The Star Wars Saga Continues!" And those of us who were so starved for Star Wars content that we eageerly watched The Ewok Adventures on TV one Sunday night lined up to buy them. And for the most part, they were great. Here were new stories of the Empire and the Skywalker family battling to save a universe that never fully accepted them. Fast forward to the Disney takeover and we were told these things never happened. That we should never believe our lying eyes, because what we saw and experienced never existed. But, if you really want to talk about them, they're over here in this imaginary "Legends" non-canon line. NO, Disney, you don't get to rewrite history. You were given the keys to an intergalactic kingdom and with it came a great responsibility to do right by the characters within those stories. You don't get to throw them out and say they never happened. You don't get to take the well established character of Luke Skywalker and change him off-screen and expect everyone to accept it. You have a responsibility to tell the tale and respect the past. Where the Disney sequels largely failed, these two Disney+ series have succeeded to a certain extent. They show some love and respect for the past, while using that past as a springboard to build new characters. Here they are. Ahsoka surviving Order 66 is perhaps the oldest living jedi in the universe. She has teamed up with a new set of Rebels battling the remnants of a galactic empire. These are new stories about new characters and at long last, they feel like Star Wars. It wasn't done by giving our heroes feet of clay, but by taking what they stood for and believed in and building upon that foundation. For now, I'm here for it, but I do not trust our Imperial Overlords at Disney. Will everything they have sold us be revealed to a lie that is then torn down in the years to come? I don't know but I'm here for the time being. I love Ahsoka and her story. I want to see what happens with Ezra Bridger and the rest of the new Jedi. I'm here for now. The Power of the Force lives on - for now. Also, this blu ray set does not work on X-Box One Series, so I didn't really get to review this set. I loved the series though.
