lightweight, buildable coverage, lasts all day
This about-face powder is one of the best I've tried. As someone with oily skin, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect powder. Some can be too heavy and cakey looking, some can just melt away during the day. This powder has the perfect texture and is very lightweight on my skin. It doesn't look caked on and it doesn't settle into creases which I love. It is great for delicate under eye areas as well. The texture of the powder is very fine and it is easy to apply. It looks very sheer on the skin and the shade Veil is great for my fair skin tone. I think the shade has a bit of a yellow undertone and looks almost invisible on my skin. It helps to blur my pores and gives that flawless look. It can be hard to find a good shade when you have pale skin, so I'm really pleased with this one. It also does not oxidize and darken which I appreciate. I feel like it actually helps to absorb the oil on my skin rather than just sitting on top of it. It's really great for summertime and keeps me from looking shiny and greasy. I also like that it can be layered and is buildable if you want more coverage. I can apply this in the morning and it lasts all day.I also like that this is made without any harsh chemicals. It is free of phthalates, parabens, and PFAs which I love. It is also vegan and cruelty free. The container this powder comes in is extremely pretty as well. It feels well made and the lid twists into place very securely. This is great because you can toss this in your purse or makeup bag and it won't come open and make a mess. This does not come with an applicator, but I prefer a powder brush anyway so this is no issue for me. It doesn't take much powder per application, so I think this generously sized container will last a long time for me. This is a great value for such a high quality powder and is something I will definitely buy again.

Creates a natural, finished look and blurs imperfections; can be messy; no puff included
WHAT YOU GET:This powder comes in a clear, recycled, hard plastic square box, with color/shade marked on top. I got the “Bow” color, which is a pale skin tone. The powder is contained in what seems to be a clear acrylic base, which has a black plastic well with mesh from which the powder can come through. The square top is a metallic gunmetal, which can sort of serve as a mirror in case you need one. It’s a bit distorted, but it can work. There is a white, tabbed sticker over the mesh opening, which needs to be removed before use. You will need a makeup brush or puff to apply the powder, although I supposed you could apply a dab with your finger if necessary. There are no types of applicators supplied. No directions are included. It’s made in Italy.NOTES:The powder case measures approximately 2.75 x 2.75 x (just under) 1.5 inches (height). The top screws on and off. Twist to the left to unscrew open, and to the right to screw closed.MY EXPERIENCE:The lid is a little hard to remove because you can’t hold the bottom part unless you pick it up in your hands, but it can be done while it's sitting on the counter if you push down on the lid while turning, as long as it rests on something non-slippery. The powder really is super fine, and can easily be airborne and swept away by the slightest air movement. This can made it a little messy at times. It’s true that it glides on and creates a “velvety-smooth complexion” as they say. I found that it made my skin tone more even and made my skin feel silky to the touch. It’s lightweight and looks great. I can’t even tell that I’m wearing powder.MY OPINION:The box does day that it’s a silicone and talc-free formula, and it’s PeTA approved, which I appreciate. The product description says that it comes with a powder puff, but I did not receive one. I wish it came with a puff as they said. It would be nice if there was one attached to the inside of the lid that could be removed. The container is a bit large, especially for throwing in a purse/bag. The powder itself works well to reduce/remove shine and create a natural, finished look while blurring imperfections, but it can get a little messy if you aren’t careful. It stays on for a long time and matches well with my light skin.

about-face Curtain Call Set & Smooth Loose Powder Veil
My daughter is obsessed with makeup and has been asking me for setting powder for a long time. I grabbed this as soon as I saw it. I'm not entirely sure if the pigments matter in some instances (I'm not a makeup expert) but this veil seems to work a lot like a sheer covering to...you guessed it...set makeup. This is slightly fairer than my daughter's complexion, but she looks just fine applying it as a finishing touch to her makeup without it making her look like a ghost. As such, for at least medium and lighter, it doesn't seem that you have to have a perfect match to benefit from using this product. Application is easy with a makeup brush (not included), and there is enough workable space inside of the vessel to pick up however much you need and tap away any excess. The finish is matte, feels good on the skin and is lightweight, non-cakey.I will say that the hardest part of using this product was figuring out how to open it. I thought that it was a snap lid and pulled off, but it actually twists and then snaps on the final twist. I don't know if that information would be helpful to anyone else, but it would have been helpful to me! Live and learn.Anyway, there is plenty of product and a little goes a long way. One of the reasons I take photos on my craft mat is to make it easy to see the scale of something (1 outlined square is 1 square inch). This is a very large container by makeup standards...much larger than any compact foundation or loose powder I've ever used before. The container was also very full. Once open, I tapped the jar several times to settle the powder back to the bottom, and it barely fit. No wasted space here.
