NOT 'SNAKE OIL ' !
Bought this being somewhat sceptical about USB leads making any difference whatsoever to sound quality. I'd been sceptical for many years after daisy chaining several HDMI leads together when I was landed with an emergency demonstration at the shop I used to work at. This lashup was connected from an AV amp to a projector and saw and heard no difference in comparison to an expensive HDMI cable regularly used Well I wasn't expecting miracles over the the supplied USB Cable from my iFi Micro DSD Black Label DAC/Headphone amp . HOW WRONG I WAS ! The actual lead is very short and is really designed to fit from the phone to a DAC. And in my case it is meant to help facilitate providing a very short connection to allow the handset to be fitted directly onto the back of my DAC and held on by elastic bands, which kind of works. It was presented well packed, feels like decent quality and fits perfectly between my Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus 5G and my ifi Micro DSD Black Label DAC/Headphone amp. But the most unexpected benefit was the jump in the sound quality. There was an overall improvement in clarity for starters. The bass became tighter and more focused, the treble was more detailed and the overall effect was somewhat like having a veil lifted from a window. A lot of people keep on about it being ones and zeros and I was inclined to believe them. My ears are definitely telling me otherwise. Thoroughly recommend.

Good Quality cable
Whilst a tad expensive this is a good quality cable that does what it is supposed to do!

I don't know how it does its thing!
So, I too was sceptical - "it's all Digital, 101101010010101" - so how does a cable make a difference? I really don't know the answer, but even in "blind" back to back tests it really does! Better stereo separation, individual instrument clarity and a sense of more musical presentation. Someone please tell me how to achieves this!

Questionable value
I owned one of these cables for 6 years before it started having frequent connection issues. I was torn between ordering a cheaper generic cable or something "audiophile". I don't believe quality digital cables can sound different from each other but cruddy ones can be problematic. I ordered this cable again, despite it costing 3x more than I paid originally, as the cheapest audio orientated cable. There seems to have been improvements and the new cable is a much tighter connection on both ends, with slightly chunkier housing and a thicker but marginally shorter cable. I have still had a few connection problems when a heavy usb cable has pulled the cable down to the side. As the connection is so firm, it seems to be how the plugs are soldered to the cable. It only happens at extremes but I mainly use it in a stationary situation to connect a hifi DAC to my iPad, with no strain on the cable, so it doesn't bode well for using... on the go... I think this cable could be significantly cheaper.

Top class cable
Excellent cable which I use with both my ifi zen sac V2 and also occasionally with my ifi go blue when I am not using the bluetooth adapter. I use it with both my MacBook and iPad and the build quality of the cable is first class. As with all ifi products it is both well made and sounds great.

Bye bye electrical hiss
So I got myself a tonex and when jamming I was getting horrible electrical hiss/ground looping... Even with both my bass pickups being humbuckers. This device got rid of all of it! I was very skeptical to be honest but once attached to my pc and tonex it's was night and day. Worth every penny.

Does the job
Cable is pretty but a bit short, and socket coonecter slightly loose but doesn't seem to affect sound quality.

I always find it very disappointing when I receive a small package in a huge package. I always try to carefully choose a beautiful and responsibly produced product. The producers of these types of products often have nice words about the environment and the responsible use of materials. They also place high demands on their suppliers. So does IFI. On their website they write: "The long-term success of our business depends critically on the efficient management of safety, health, environment, quality, energy, carbon reduction, and responsible sourcing. In order to inform and encourage wider adoption of ethical behaviors , we have a single sustainability policy that is periodically reviewed and disseminated to workers, contractors, visitors, key stakeholders, and our supplier chain." how disappointing it is then to receive a surplus of paper and even plastic as a package. And yes: the packaging of the product itself is minimalist and consists entirely of cardboard. However, in this way more material is used for the shipment than for the purchased product. Too bad and certainly not sustainable, and certainly not according to IFI's own standards for responsible resourcing and carbon emissions. The word Greenwashing comes to mind.

I use this with an Audioengine D3 portable DAC for Android. It sounds as good as I think the D3 can sound. I know it could be worse too because I also have a USB-C HDMI adapter that has a USB-A port as well as a USB-C power passthrough. Sometimes I get "clicking" when I play audio through that device. I also feel like there is more noise too. Anyway that product is still useful because you can power your device while playing music but this iFi cable is much preferred quality wise. No sound issues, no loose connections, the cable feels durable while being light weight (still I would not recommend putting much more stress on it than a device like a USB DAC) and it looks great. Outstanding fit and finish. It is also very sleek. One reviewer mentored that the USB-A side is very small and was too short for his application. Well that is a valid criticism but with my Audioengine D3 the amount of exposed USB shielding ( I guess that's what you would call it) is minimal and doesn't bother me at all. Also keep in mind these cables are probably designed for used with iFi's products and those appear to have a recessed male USB-A port. Which I don't see often. So if that bothers you, you might want to get the AudioQuest Dragon Tail even though it's pricier, or the Amazon Basics. Again, for me, it is no issue unless there is something wrong with a slight exposure that I am unaware of. See photo. I recommend this product. No idea what is going on with the bootleg products being talked about. Mine looks like the real deal.
