Do i need to build a box around them? With spray in insulation will it affect sound?

I cut a hole in a drywall hollow soffit and mounted them. they sound very good. Any box would not require insulation. A box would be used to send the sound out through the speakers, not to muffle the sound. I would suggest to install them without the box, and try it before building a box.
