Durable and Efficient Seed Starter for Gardening Enthusiasts
The Burpee SuperSeed Seed Starting Tray is a 36-cell reusable tray designed to simplify the seed germination process for vegetables, flowers, and herbs. Ideal for indoor gardening, this tray aims to provide an organized and efficient way to start seedlings. I used it to germinate a variety of seeds, including tomatoes, herbs, and marigolds, to assess its usability, durability, and performance.Pros:✅ Reusable Design: The sturdy construction ensures the tray can be reused for multiple planting seasons.✅ Optimized Cell Size: Each cell is spacious enough to support healthy root development for seedlings.✅ Efficient Watering System: The tray design allows for easy drainage and helps prevent overwatering, promoting successful germination.✅ Compact and Organized: Perfect for indoor setups, fitting conveniently on windowsills or small gardening shelves.✅ Clear Lid Included: The included dome lid helps retain moisture and warmth, creating an ideal environment for germination.Cons:❌ Lid Durability: The plastic lid feels thinner and less sturdy compared to the tray, requiring careful handling.❌ No Labels Included: A lack of labels or markers for cell identification means you’ll need to organize seedlings manually.Performance and Usability:The Burpee SuperSeed tray performed excellently during testing, providing consistent germination rates across different types of seeds. The drainage holes in each cell were particularly effective in preventing waterlogging, while the clear dome lid helped maintain humidity levels. Cleaning the tray was straightforward, making it a practical reusable solution for gardeners. However, the thin lid requires extra care to avoid cracking.Comparison:Compared to single-use seed trays, the Burpee SuperSeed tray stands out for its durability and eco-friendly design. While some reusable trays in this price range lack clear lids or have smaller cells, this model strikes a good balance between functionality and size. Competitors offering similar features may charge more, making this tray a cost-effective option for home gardeners.Who Is This For?:This seed starter tray is ideal for beginner and experienced gardeners who want a reliable and reusable solution for starting seeds indoors. It’s perfect for those growing vegetables, flowers, or herbs in limited space or preparing seedlings for transplanting into a larger garden. Conclusion:The Burpee SuperSeed Seed Starting Tray is a high-quality, reusable tool that simplifies the germination process and supports healthy seedling growth. While the lid could be sturdier and labels would add convenience, the tray’s overall performance and ease of use make it a valuable addition to any gardener’s toolkit.

Easiest Seed Starting Tray I’ve Ever Used – Burpee SuperSeed 36-Cell Pops Out Perfectly!
I grabbed the Burpee SuperSeed Seed Starting Tray (36 Cell) to kick off my spring garden indoors, and it has made starting vegetables, herbs, and flowers so much smoother than my old plastic trays. As a backyard gardener who starts 100+ seedlings every year for tomatoes, peppers, basil, and flowers, this reusable tray has quickly become my go-to.The tray arrived well-packaged and ready to use—no assembly needed. It’s a sturdy plastic frame with 36 flexible silicone-bottom cells that pop out seedlings cleanly. The molded corner slots and deep channels provide excellent drainage and aeration, plus it’s fully dishwasher-safe for easy cleanup and reuse season after season. In real-world use:I filled it with seed-starting mix, planted a mix of seeds, and kept it under grow lights. The flexible cells made transplanting effortless—just push from the bottom and the root ball slides out intact with zero damage. Watering is simple thanks to the built-in channels, and I’ve had strong germination rates with no soggy soil issues. After a few weeks, everything transplanted beautifully into the garden. I’ve already reused it once and it still looks brand new.Pros:Super-easy pop-out silicone cells – seedlings slide out damage-free every timeExcellent drainage and aeration for healthier roots and better germinationFully reusable and dishwasher-safe – great eco-friendly valueCompact size (fits perfectly on my grow light shelves)Durable build that should last many seasonsCons:No humidity dome included (I used plastic wrap for the first week)36 smaller cells are perfect for starting but you’ll want to transplant soon for bigger plantsAt this price, it’s fantastic value compared to disposable trays or flimsier alternatives I’ve tried. If you start seeds indoors, this Burpee SuperSeed tray will save you time, reduce transplant shock, and cut down on waste. Highly recommend—would buy again (and I probably will for my second batch this year)!

Perfect gift for a gardener who likes to keep things organized
I picked this up as a birthday gift for my wife, and it’s turned out to be one of her favorite garden gifts yet. The labeled grid (A-F across, 1-6 down) is what really sold her on it. She uses the whole layout to track exactly which seeds are in which cell and how each one is progressing. No more guessing what’s sprouting where. We’ve already seen good germination results, including some pumpkin seedlings she recently transplanted out of the tray once they got going. The cells hold soil well and seedlings are easy to pop out without disturbing the roots. If you’re buying for someone who likes to be methodical about their garden, this tray makes tracking growth simple and satisfying. Great gift, and she’s already planning to reuse it for the next round of seeds.

Works beautifully for starting a bunch of seeds!
I made the mistake of buying the paper based starting tray that was harder to control the moisture. I didn't know bottom soaking is better without washing the seeds out and avoid overwatering. The build quality is excellent! Sure, the bottom tray is on the thinner side so you probably don't want to drop this on the ground but otherwise, I used four 36-cell tray to start germinating annuals and perennials I can plant this year. After putting seeding starting mix (not regular potting soil), I filled the bottom tray about 1/4" or so with water and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes until the top looked damp. Then dumped the remaining water out so no mold grows under or have the cells in wet condition. Another issue I had with the paper trays if the top was too damp. We'll see how things germinate but because it's rigid but it's also easy to take out with the flexible silicone bottom, the seeds should start well and allow for the plant to grow rapidly.

Easy to get the plants out but no cover which for the price is not worth it.
