Classic Plug & Play Dash Cam Power Adapter (DCA-LRS)

It's not advertised as compatible with VW so I was not sure, but all the other options would have arrived too late so I gambled, and it works great. I even managed to tuck the step down regulator behind the plastic trim, after some thought, so that all that is sticking out is a short USB C cable. It is on all the time, not ignition controlled. I do not know if I used keyways 1 or 2 because they aren't labelled, I used the black cables not the pink and blue. I will try another on a VW sharan 2024 soon.

Works perfectly well on a '26 ID Buzz cargo. Splits from the rain sensor connection and provides permanent power for the vantrue E1. No doubt works for other cams. As per the pic,

Although it is easy to install but for F generation BMWs it doesn’t supply constant power to the DashCam. Wouldn’t recommend this for someone who wants surveillance features. They simply won’t work.

Easy to install and comes with various USB cables (miniUSB, microUSB and USB-C). However, on the BMW i4, the rain sensor is on all the time so the USB power does not switch off.If you want it powering off when the car is switched off, then this is not the one. Unfortunately will be returning this despite it being a well thought out product.

For BMW, ignore their proprietary 10pin connector & head for the red 3 pin buried back against the underside of the windshield after you remove the plastic cover. Needle nose pliers made it easy to pull out.I found it helpful to disconnect the black 10pin so I had room to work, simply plug it back in after you've confirmed functionality through the 3 pin.It took a little bit of trying to Nestle all of the components back under the plastic cover, but it works. I snipped two of the plastic bars on the bottom of the driver's side cover to allow the plug to snake through to power the dash cam (see pic).I've probably purchased 10 Dongar connectors over the years for various cars and various friends cars that I gifted dash cams. They make things SO easy compared to back in the day when I would tap into the wiring of the rear view mirror.I'm going to guess that this works for all of the BMWs with powered mirrors in this "generation" of design, which seems to be 2014-2018, but do your own homework. Mine is a 2017 F26 X4 M40i.I will continue to be a customer of this company, great product, great price, makes things easy and convenient. 5 stars all day.

The product itself is great. Works flawlessly but newer BMWs keep power on in the rain sensor for over 10 minutes after turning off the car.This creates parasitic drain which messes up the battery management system and you get an error when you start the car that says "Start engine. Malfunction while shutting down the vehicle electronics when vehicle is stationary. If the problem recurs, have it checked by your service center."This error also disables your remote start feature on your car

I bought one for my Kia Sorento a few years back directly from the company.Recently, they made one that would work in my carbon fiber exotic - I purchased this from Amazon. It too worked perfectly.Carbon fiber exotic? Yes, my BMW i3. It's awesome - the best city car ever. I love it!
