Based on your under bust size, you should be wearing a 40 band, maybe even a 38. Subcract the difference. Each inch of difference is a cup size.

Q: If this fits larger, is it truly in the band size - indicating to go down one band measurement eg.,40 to a 38, OR is it the cup that's too large?

I have tried on a lot of bras looking for a good fit, and band size 44 is what works for me in pretty much every bra bit this one! I ordered a 42 because it supposedly ran large, but it was really small in the band when I got it. I reordered a 44DD and although it felt pretty good when I tried it on the last hook, 15 minutes later it feels tight.

Try checking out the Reddit discussion "A Bra That Fits." They have a calculator that asks you to take five different measurements, and they also discuss things such as projection vs. shallow. I was shocked when I calculated my size, but it turned out to be accurate. Only discrepancy I found is that the calculation was correct for underwire bras, but I prefer wireless. Not having the wire to ensure the gore presses against the sternum causes a little slack in the cups for me, so I found that with going wireless (again, for me personally), I was more comfortable going with the sister size of one band size up and one cup size down.

Not really made for larger busts

I am 40 DDD/F. I bought 40DDD. In America I would often get a bra and even though it showed 2-3 hooks on the back, when it sized up for bigger chests the back hooks will be increased to 4. This only has 3, which means I will have less support and probably have weird rolls on my back. I’m a little worried about the straps being able to hold a bigger chest too.
