Q: Are these panels ridged? I'm thinking of standing them up between my desk and the filing cabinet in front of my desk w/ 18" frestanding.

I'm not sure what ridged means, but they are just square edged, flat, 4 inch thick panels. No way to stand them on edge unless you rig something up.

Q: Which material is used inside the panels?

Hello, Our panels are typically made using Roxul Rockboard insulation. However, we do have Owens Corning 703 and our all recycled product Eco-Core. Let me know if you have any more questions. -Eric Harris

place them with center at ear height and try some randomness also. try googling the mirror method of placing wall treatments.

i ordered 3 in one of our conference rooms about the same size as your studio. It reduce the noise by about 35 percent. I really like them I am planning on ordering 3 more for the same room.We an open concept design so our space has no ceiling and noise bouncing off the walls, floors made it unbearable. The 3 panels we put up made a huge difference. I am planning on adding 3 more to the same conference room and purchasing more for the other 3 conference rooms we have. I would say between 6/8 panels would work just depends on percentage of noise you would like to lessen.
