Received Wrong Boots
This is my third pair of Thorogood boots purchased from Amazon. I'm thoroughly sold on Thorogood's quality and comfort and will never buy anything else.But... I ordered the 1957 waterproof safety toe and received a different model. The Good - The wrong boots are the right size, they're Thorogoods, they have a steel toe.The Bad - The boots I received are not waterproof, they are not what was pictured when I bought them. That said, I had to have boots right now so I'm keeping the wrong ones. There is no price difference between what I ordered and what I got so I didn't get pinched there.Honestly I'm not even mad about it. I just wish you could always get exactly what you order.I have one pair of boots being renewed and my second pair suffered a catastrophic failure due to lack of maintenance on my part. So I was out of boots and Amazon Prime got me back into a pair within 2 days.Thorogood boots - You just can't go wrong with them. They're comfortable out of the box, require very, very little break in time and are reasonably durable.I mow lawns in Florida for a living and my first pair lasted 3 years before needing to be shipped off to be resoled.Second pair lasted 1 month short of 3 years before dry rot (lack of maintenance) got the leather at the base of the tongue. My feet hurt most of the time due to neuropathy and most footwear causes me pure agony. Not the Thorogoods. Best boot ever made. Try them, you'll love them.

High quality and comfortable work boot.
Great boots. As always Thorogood has a quality boot. I would rather spend money for a work boot that will last and stay comfortable than have to by a cheap pair that falls apart and doesn’t last. Most importantly, made in USA

No tongue issue! Read this! Comfortable and Well Made Boots!
I am writing this review to hopefully help people in the future who are looking to buy these boots and have read or will read some of the negative reviews about the tongue and how it makes the boot very uncomfortable. I am here to tell you that yes, it can be very uncomfortable, unbearable even, if you don’t fold the tongue properly. I, like many of the other bad reviews on here, put the boots on for the first time and noticed what seems to be a lot of material there for the tongue. Wrong way #1 I found was to tuck it flat to the side of my ankle and laced up the boots. It was painful, too much material in the ankle area. The material bunches up and digs into your ankle when you walk. I also saw reviews to just cut the tongue and that way the material has a place to go and doesn’t bind. Although I was very close to doing this, I could bring myself to do it to boots of this quality. This is partially Wrong way #2, although it would solve the issue. The picture I included shows the correct way to fold the tongue so the material is in front of the ankle instead of binding next to it. I am a week and a half in of wearing these boots 9-10hrs a day and walk an average of about 6k-8k steps a day. These boots are comfortable and I expect them to last 2-3 years before needing a re-sole or anything with my average use. Hope this helps potential future buyers! Also in case you need to know, I have worn Red Wings a lot in the past and these boots are about the same comfort and quality in my opinion. I actually had a pair of Red Wings on order but they were on back order and going to be a while so I took a chance on the Thorogood boots. I am very pleased!

Nice boots but sloppy tongue and short laces
Very good boots. Only downsides are the tongue and lace length. The tongue is sewn halfway up the sides. If you try to lace up the boot and tuck the tongue flat, the sides fold over which creates a ridge which irritates the foot. If you lace up and just let the tongue go wherever it wants, it’s comfortable but sloppy looking. The laces are 54” but need to be about 58” to be able to lace up to the last eyelets.Other than that, great boots.

TONGUE ISSUE GOES AWAY
This is a great work boot. I saw all the reviews about the tongue digging into your ankle and I also experienced the same thing. I wore the boots hard for the first week to break them in and once the leather softens up there is no more issue with the tongue of the boot. Fits very comfortably now. For sizing I’d say going down half a size from your true to size. The standard width is snug, but I fee like that’s how a boot should fit. There is still more than enough space in the tow box so don’t worry. I had to return my true to size sizing because the Boots just felt too big (heel was rising) and I was also almost tripping over things I usually wouldn’t. If you have wide feet at all you should get the wider versions or order two pairs and just return the other when you find the right fit. This is my first pair and you can tell it is a very well made boot. These will last a long time.
