Five Stars
If you are someone who wants/needs pictures of recipes, this cookbook is not for you. It features recipe after recipe, all posted in basic font, one after another. To me, it feels like you are merely reading recipes saved to Word document (yes I am showing my age and lack of technical/modern skills). There are some spots that explain things like how to make your own stock or cream base soup, for those who do not like using canned products. The recipes themselves are pretty basic and I feel geared toward beginner to intermediate cooks. Advanced cooks might find this cookbook boring. People who like organic foods might be turned off by this cookbook. The recipes are do-able and feature readily-available, easy-to-find ingredients (many of which you will likely already have in your pantry), BUT..I feel there are better cookbooks out there if you want to eat "light" or healthier. I might use some recipes from this cookbook, but not looking at them as 'diet' or even healthy recipes. They, to me, seem more like family type of foods (which, if you want your family to eat healthy, again, I just feel this is not a good representation of light or healthy recipe).Bottom line: Easy to do recipes with easy to find ingredients. No pictures, which might be a deterrent for some. Also, imho, the 'light' aspect seems lost...? Great cookbook I feel for those who are beginner cooks to intermediate cooks who want some traditional homestyle family foods. Not really 'healthy' or 'light'. Yes, there are worse things you could eat, but there are also better things. In hindsight, I would not have ordered, as I have been cooking for years and years and none of these recipes seem 'new' or 'different' to me. Very basic and kind of boring. Bu again, if you are a starter cook and want some good basic traditional-type recipes, you might enjoy this (if the fact that there are no pictures does not bother you). Otherwise I would say keep looking..

Not Usually a Fan of Slow Cookers BUT...........
My slow cooker was seldom used because most recipes were not that great. I also don't like to use canned soup and such for cooking; I am a 'from scratch chef' (I use the 'chef' loosely). There is very little of that in this book. I don't like calorie-laden cooking and also prefer to have an approximate idea of what is in a recipe. This book lists calories, fat, sodium and carbs, which concerns me most. In addition protein and vitamins are in the mix. Some of the recipes are repeated with various regional changes throughout the book. The name and state of the contributor is listed and if you like someone's versions this is convenient for picking out their recipes. Some people don't like the repetition but I like different ideas. After trying about a dozen of the recipes, I had 2 that were not so great but most were very good and the Orange Chicken and Tastes Like Chile Rellenos were excellent. I always am of the opinion that if you get one very good recipe from a book it is worth the cost (I purchased the hardcover edition). After following the original recipe as written, changes can be made such as leaving the chicken skin on or off, adjusting the seasonings to your liking and so on.

Great for busy cooks
I originally purchased Fix It and Forget It Lightly a couple of years ago for myself, and have enjoyed it so much that I picked up a copy to go with a crockpot for my niece, who has just moved into her first place alone. I mention that specifically because this is a great cookbook whether you are an experienced cook, as I consider myself to be after 30+ years of cooking, or a relative novice as she is. The Fix It and Forget It series is designed for home cooks who need fresh ideas to spice up the same old boring routine meals; if you're a serious gourmet chef, this book probably isn't for you. But for the rest of us, it's perfect. This is the first book I reach for when I want to do a crockpot meal and I know that I have some pork chops or some chicken breasts, and that's about all that I know! I can browse through the sections which are conveniently categorized by the main ingredient such as chicken, pork, beans, etc., and find a recipe for which I have all the ingredients on hand. It's also kind of fun to read the different recipes which are all submitted by individual cooks, and see where they came from. Fix It and Forget It Lightly really never fails me, and while we have some favorites from it of course, such as the Fruited Pork Chops (mmmm), I frequently try something new and the recipes are invariably good. Highly recommended!

Easy Cooking .......
Love this cookbook! Easy, quick, good recipes. Some of the recipes are ones you've seen before, but get creative and jazz them up ....... make them your own; it's easy once you have a basic recipe to start with. This is great for working women ........ literally fix it and it's ready when you get home from work. I use my crockpot year round ....... many people only use it in the winter months, but why heat your kitchen up in the summer time?? If you can't grill outside, I say use your crockpot.

Pretty Good Cookbook
I am a veteran cook, but I only started using a crock pot a few years ago, and I wanted to find some good recipes. Although some of these recipes are not really that "light" in my opinion, the ones I tried were easy to adapt. And, I also added some seasonings to recipes that seemed a bit bland. I have lots of cookbooks, but this is my first one for the slow cooker. I would recommend it to others who are interested in this type of cooking.

Absolutely invaluable to me
I have used these recipes about once a week over 6 months. Nearly all have turned out wonderfully flavorful and enjoyable. I had almost given up on cooking as nothing ever seemed to turn out except the unhealthy recipes I learned in my youth. This is reliable and recipes are so quick to prepare.

Lots of recipes to choose from
I like this book and I bought it after getting the fix it 'n forget it feast book, so this one makes a nice addition to my slow cooker collection. There are recipes for all tastes and plenty to inspire you. So if you have a crockpot you should find lots of yummy recipes here. I recommend it anyway.

Satisfied
Good recipes β happy to have it. A little disappointed that it is spiral bound (not sure if that is clear in the description).

I love it! I use it at least four times a week. I ordered two more for my friends. The recipes are so easy to follow and it's great to have dinner ready at the end of a busy day.
