Q: Will this gauge work on concrete, cmu and drywall substrates?

From the description on the manufacturer's website, this is meant to detect layers on metal. This is typically used in the automotive industry such as detailing and body shop work. So, with that in mind, I do not think this will work on concrete, cmu, and drywall surfaces. I suggest you email or write to the manufacturer to verify this information.

I’m sorry, but I have not tried to measure bumper paint thickness. I don’t believe it will work on plastic. The readout is big and the meter works very well.

No. The 311 has a built-in / integral probe.

No. It is used to measure paint thickness to provide indication of overall condition of paint work.
