Gtech HT50 Cordless Hedge Trimmer

I used this for the first time today and was extremely delighted with it. It far outreached my expectations, I was expecting it to be somewhat flimsy, but it's sturdy and very fit for purpose. The LHT50 is very light for it's size and performs without fault. I bought a Ryobi one, very similar, but twice the weight of this. I have arthritis in my hands and wrists and found the Ryobi too heavy to use so sent it back. This LHT50 is so much lighter and a joy to use. Highly recommended for old codgers and people with weak hands and wrists.

Having used a long reach Stihl hedge trimmer for many many years getting a battery machine has been a bit of a shock (No pun intended), this thing just does not have the power which I sort of expected but maybe less than I was hoping. My major disappointment on receiving this was, it was shorter than I thought, I think it was that 10ft reach claim that threw me. Yes OK I'm 6 ft and holding this up above my head it has a 10 ft reach, but. . .I have used it every day now since it arrived and after my initial disappointments, I have warmed to it a bit. I have a horrible conifer hedge that I hate which is about 8 ft high and although this lacks the power of petrol machines if you take a slower and steady approach to the job it does get it done. It does not have the greatest reach in the world, however it makes up for this by the lack of weight I can probably still reach as far as I could with my longer Stihl because that machine is heavy. The battery seems to last just about 45 mins or just over but the machine is working the whole time. It also stops for a few seconds from time to time I suspect it some sort of overload protection. Again to make the most of it, it's a case of slow and steady.I hope to in time to change all my garden tools to battery rather than petrol machines, but in doing so I think I will need a new mindset to make the most of them.Its an OK machine but I have given it 4 stars because of my first reactions to it and charging the battery is a bit slow. I feel the charger is a bit small and cheap.

Good, light, easy to use.

The main reason I bought this GTech hedge trimmer was because it offered a decent long reach and was light weight, and I'm not disappointed. My previous machine was 4.5kg and I needed the upper body strength of Schwarzenegger in his prime to use it for anything more than 3 mins at a time. Thankfully with the GTech I can get all my hard to reach upper hedge sections cut without any physical complaints from the 2.1kg total weight. The cutting blade length isn't the longest but on the end of the long reach pole it's good enough for the intended purpose. So far the battery charges and holds the charge for the promised hours use - I'll be making sure it's well protected and insulated over the winter to prevent any cold weather deterioration.

I bought a similar product from Ryobi thinking it was going to be similar weight but I was so wrong.This one is so much lighter and cuts brilliantly, well worth the money and for some reason so much cheaper than the official website.
