Tenryu Hand Forged Samurai Sword 40-Inch Overall

Very beautiful Tachi!! Very sharp also!! Please be careful when handling this blade!! This sword is well made with gorgeous fittings. Full tang, double pegs. This sword is made to be displayed but is capable of dispatching light targets. Very nice wrappings, fittings are tight. The description says "blood groove" however it does not have a bohi. The ray skin is very nice, with white ito and 10" tsuka. The blade is Damascus style and has a nice folded look to it. Modern Damascus blades are not true Wootz steel. They are most likely folded carbon steel, I think this one is only 1045.The saya is absolutely gorgeous!! The wrappings are awesome!! The pic shows it to be a darker maroon but mine is a lighter shade close to crimson or candy apple red. Be careful not to handle this sword with dirty hands as it will show very easily on the white wrappings. This is the perfect display piece for your home, office or dojo. I paid just over $70 for this one and they also have one that is black with green wrappings that I paid the same for but that one right now is $139. Sometimes you can wait and it will go down in price, that sword is identical just different color. Highly recommend these Tachi swords if you want a beautiful showpiece!!

Beautiful sword! Arrived sooner than expected, was very well packaged and protected. Only thing I hadn't expected was for it to be as sharp as it was. I ordered this for a performance/demo sword to use in my teams demos and so was specifically looking for one that was less sharp than standard. But this came with a pretty good edge on it. Just an FYI. All in all, very happy with it and definitely a great buy for the quality at that price!

Blade came just as described, quite sharp and detailed impressively for the price point. My only complaint is the scabbard is somewhat lower quality and likes to leave debris on the blade after every sheathing and drawing.. but it is lessening as it gets worn in. There was very minor scuffs on the habaki but for the price I'm very pleased. Cut through water filled jugs with ease.
