Build the Swing of a Lifetime: The Four-Step Approach to a More Efficient Swing

Best book on the swing I've ever read.
Been golfing 25 years and struggled with inconsistancy and mechanics for every year. I have had lessons and coaches with all of them telling me different fixes for one thing. Never really improved much, just had more stuff to think about. Mike Bender and his explanation of why his methods work changed everything. I am playing my best golf and hitting farther and more accurate than i ever have at age 64. He explains why his drills, lessons and swings are the foundation of the greaest ball strikers. Its not about strength, its about speed and using the fastest limbs on your body efficently. Easy drills and eventually a good smooth effortless swing that you can use for a lifetime. No more shoulder, back and neck pain anymore from trying to smash the ball. I'm outdriving my buddies by 50 yards and more, hitting my irons 20 to 40 yards more. They pull out their 5 or 6 iron for a 150yd shot, i'm using my 8 or 9 iron. I love playing golf and actually quit playing for about 8 years becasue of my swing. Had soem old habits that were hard to break but once I did what Mike teaches everything changed. Highly recommend and in my opinion the book is worth any price the seller may be asking. Mike Bender is my hero.

Clear information with good drills
Personally, my golf has suffered through the years from two ailments: misalignment and an over the top swing with very early release. I have never been able to solve or cure either.Mike starts with alignment, because if you don't know where you are going, you can't get there. His suggestion is so simple one must wonder why his line of sight aiming is not commonly taught. In other words, golf is the only sport where you do not aim with your eyes at the target on the same line as the weapon (the golf ball.) As for my other problems, they were addressed.in the ensuing chapters. What I liked was the extensive use of simple training aids (a noodle stuck over two old shafts stuck together) and multiple drills to help get the proper position and feel. The section on impact was particularly helpful in developing forward shaft lean which almost automatically develops lag as one can't get the left hand to the flat left wrist position without creating lag. There is really no new set of secrets, but a better explanation of how to learn to swing with some good results. After reading the book I got some of his CDs and his BenderStik which is a bit more flexible than the two old shafts. His teaching is based upon his theories of making a very efficient mechanical swing based upon his studies of Iron Bryon. Another nice feature of the book, is that it has links to demonstrations of what he is teaching.A by-product of Mike's teaching was that I realized I needed more help achieving the flat left wrist and the forward lean. This led me to "The Impact Zone: Mastering Golf's Moment of Truth" by Bobby Clampett, Andy Brumer. This book stresses several dynamics like flat left wrist and forward shaft lean (the really on two things all great golfers have in common). He starts with the putter and goes on to chipping, pitching, and finally full swings. His goal is to have the golfer have a swing that creates the bottom of the divot about 4 inches in front of the ball position. As with Mike, where you "aim" sets where you go.I have had many lessons over time, and many of these elements that are part of Mike's and Bobby's instruction have been mentioned and even taught, but usually without the emphasis as to how important they are.I set up my I Pad so I can see what I am trying to do. I would recommend either.

Best Golf Book Ever for me
I have been playing golf for 30 years and for long as I can remember I've been between a 12 and 14 handicap. Each year I think I'm going to take my game to the next level. I finally decided last year that I had a lousy golf swing. I've fooled myself for years that I was good because I could hit good shots. The problem was soon or latter I would hit a bad shot and feel completely lost. I would start questioning every aspect of the swing and fall apart.Shortly after admitting to myself I needed to change my swing I was playing with a friend who is about a 4 handicap. I noticed his swing looked different. So many people say "I changed my swing" and you look at them and say "no you didn't" that I asked him about it. He told me about this book. As soon as I got it I realized that after 30 years I did not understand many aspects of the golf swing. I read the book cover to cover and started doing some of the drills. I can't say I have it grooved yet but last week I played in the "Solstice Survival" golf outing, three rounds of stroke play in a day. At no time during the 54 holes did I get that familiar confidence draining feeling that I had lost my swing. If I hit a bad shot I went right back to the fundamentals that I learned from the book and hit a good shot. Right now if I concentrate and make a good swing I have a high probability of hitting an acceptable shot. It's getting better and better. This book is best for people who have been playing for a while. If your just starting, go to a PGA professional and get some instruction. You have to start this level of instruction with some basic idea of what you are doing. I highly recommend this for people who are seriously interested in playing the game well. This book will give you what you need to build a reliable swing.

Build the swing oof a lifetime
This is definetely the best golf book I have read in 2012. I would recommend this book hands down to all levels of player. The authors are able to communicate their knowledge clearly and concisely as well as giving appropriate drills to correct the problem. It is now my reference book on the golf swing and it will be required reading for all my students. Congratulation M. Bender and M. Allen

Easy Read
Finally understand where the arms and shaft are to be during the back swing. I have added at least 5 MPH ball speed AND dead aim with two of his drills. Highly recommend this book, fairly easy to comprehend and follow.
