Can these brushes be used for varnishing?

You could and I have to apply base coats. I throw away rather than clean the brush and use a quality brush for final coat which I do clean.

can these be used for oil based paint? or just for water based paint?

Yes. But as for any brush on an oil based product, it is best to dilute the paint with mineral spirits first to minimize brush marks.

What is the % of polyester/nylon filaments?

Not on packaging or website so I don't know. You can email their support and maybe they will tell you. Sorry I can't help more. They are a great "cheap" brush for water based paint.

Great brushes

I like these for the fact that they are easy to clean! They hold paint well while completing the job , but slides off while cleaning. The bristles stay in place and don’t stray out the sides like a lot of brushes. They are super soft and true to size. Fair price for what you get. I will keep these in mind the next time I need more brushes.

Great for Tung oil application

I used one to apply 2 coats of Tung oil to 8 tall rough surface cedar posts and it is still usable. I wasn't expecting much but surprised that it held up and I can use it again in the future.

Forget the name brand give these a try! They work great and are high quality!

I was t at first on buying these but for the price I wanted to give them a try. Was I shocked how good these brushes are. They work just as good as the expensive name brands. They are heavy duty and the bristles do not fall off.They fit perfect in your hand and the price is perfect. Nice and smooth finish in the end. I’m buying these from now on.

These are soft brushes

I'm a painting contractor of almost 40 years. These are not for exterior trim they are for thin bodied paints not anything like Sherwin Williams Super paint or DurationThey are ok for smooth interior trim. The price is right but I doubt I'll purchase them again.
