The 'Chocolate' aspect needs improvement.
This product, manufactured by brand ‘Beanies’, is ‘Instant Coffee Drink Mix’ in ‘Mint Chocolate’ variant. Its country of origin is the UK. Its list of ingredients is as follows: Soluble Coffee, Artificial Flavouring Substances (Mint Chocolate Flavour). ‘Instructions’ pertaining to the product’s usage are as follows: One heaped teaspoon per cup, add freshly boiled water. As a consumer, I am glad that a ‘clear-cut’ option for preparing ‘Flavoured Black Coffee’ has been provided for. Upon unwrapping the product, a noticeable ‘Chocolate’-based ‘aroma’ was experienced. However, the prepared beverage did not necessarily emit any ‘aroma’. On an alternate basis, I decided to prepare the beverage with freshly boiled water and pre-boiled dairy-based ‘Toned’ Milk. I did notice significant differences when ‘experimenting’ with the ‘base’ of the beverage. The ‘Coffee’ dissolved easily, not forming any lump(s) whatsoever. I did not add any sweetener to the beverage, irrespective of the ‘base’. One may or may not choose to incorporate a sweetener of choice to the beverage. I cannot state if or not sweeteners other than ‘standard’ ‘White Sugar’ such as ‘Brown Sugar’, ‘Honey’, ‘Stevia’, and/or even ‘Jaggery’ and ‘Artificial Sweeteners’ shall work well with respect to this product. ‘Base’ such as ‘Plant-Based’ ‘Non-Dairy’ ‘Milk Alternatives’ and/or even ‘Lactose-Free Milk’ may or may not work well either. In my humble opinion, the brand itself can, in an attempt to cater to varying needs of consumers, shed ‘light’ on sweeteners and/or ‘base’ (other than ‘Water’) optimal for the product. When dairy-based ‘Toned’ Milk was the ‘base’ of the beverage (in my own experience): The ‘Mint’ itself could not be distinctly identified as ‘Spearmint’, ‘Wintergreen’, or ‘Peppermint’ for instance. It was not ‘Candy Cane’-like either. It was noticeable in terms of a ‘cooling’ sensation experienced whilst and post-consuming the beverage. The ‘Chocolate’ came across as if based off on ‘Chocolate’-flavoured confectionery products instead of actually being ‘Chocolate’-based. It initially coated one’s mouth: as if being waxy or oily. Thankfully, this mouthfeel dissipated as the ‘Coffee’ component itself took over. The ‘Chocolate’, in combination with the ‘Coffee’, did not lead to a ‘Mocha’-like ‘Coffee’ beverage-based experience. This is not a ‘con’ per se, but must be known of. The ‘Coffee’ itself was ‘moderate’ in terms of strength, with its characteristic ‘bitterness’ slightly experienced in terms of aftertaste. As a ‘whole’, the beverage was not ‘acidic’. It was soothing and ‘light’ on one’s palate. When freshly boiled water was the ‘base’ of the beverage (in my own experience): The ‘Mint’ itself was even more noticeable as a ‘flavour’ as well as in terms of a ‘cooling’ sensation. It was, still, not distinctly identifiable as ‘Spearmint’, ‘Wintergreen’, or ‘Peppermint’ for instance. It was not ‘Candy Cane’-like either. That said, it acted, rightfully, as one of the ‘key’ components of the beverage. The ‘Chocolate’ was not noticeable at all. It seemed to have ‘evaporated’ or disappeared altogether. A ‘Mocha’-like ‘Coffee’ beverage-based experience was not the case here either. The ‘Coffee’ itself was even ‘stronger’, with its characteristic ‘bitterness’ noticeably felt in terms of aftertaste. Depending on personal preference, the product can offer a sense of ‘versatility’. Overall, keeping one’s expectations at a realistic level, this product can be tried out.
