Radius Garden 20502 PRO Stainless Steel Weeder, Green

I purchased this shovel 3/3/2019. I was very excited to find a stainless steel shovel to put on the top of my truck camper as I have needed a shovel in the past. The shovel was mounted on a luggage rack utilizing a fastening system known as a grip fist which is often used by off road folks for mounting hi-lift jacks for changing tires as well as shovels. Very secure attachment. For reference the attachment points are two rubber straps that go around the handle portion of the shovel. There is no contact points on the shovel blade itself and the shovel blade sits sideways so water does not collect in the blade.Based on my calendar our travel plans since March 2019 would have placed the camper and the shovel outside for approximately 40 days. Just last week I needed the shovel. Much to my disappointment this is what I found when I crawled up the ladder to retrieve my shovel. The shovel has never been used before so there was no foreign material on it (except road dust) and no damage to the original finish. Other than the 40 days outside the camper (and shovel) lives in an enclosed / temperature controlled garage. Everything stays dry once put away. To say the least I am unimpressed with the stainless aspect of the product.Contacted the manufacturer and was told this defect does not fall under their lifetime warranty. Awesome! I have $20 shovels from Home Depot that last longer than this. Not impressed. Unless you want to spray this thing with WD-40 and oil it after every use I wouldn't bother.

There is not enough space here to tell why I love this thing - sturdy, feels good on my hands, digs through stuff my shovel couldn't. I am a 78 y/o lady gardener, 2 titanium hips. Not supposed to jump on my shovel. Very limiting..With this tool,I cleared a 4'x6' patch of sod in less than 1 hour.much more safely thatn jumping on shovel and sometimes tipping over. I'm not saying this sort of thing isn't work, and I do not think it was meant to clear sod - but it did. Easily works as cultivator in previouls tilled soil. Digs gently deep - I successfully moved old established rhubarb plants to another site. Previously, shovel couldnt get under plant, breaking roots. I was not really tired after this day.This thing is going to allow me to garden another 10 years.

Amazing tool! Feels sturdy and comfortable when using. Creates a clean looking groomed edge with ease. We are enjoying the ergonomic handle, seems far superior to other designs for ease of use. Blade was decently sharp right out of the box however, sharpening slightly did improve the cutting ability. This has been a godsend to improve the look of our property in areas too overgrown to easily use our gas powered edger effectively. I love it!!! Great for the design, sculpting and creating new garden bed areas. Cleans up easily. Hoping the stainless steel will hold up well as it’s only been in use for a couple of weeks. Hope to update this review at a later date on how the metal is holding up in comparison with others who have experienced rust problems.

got this in place of a broad fork that was going to be too heavy for me in years to come. Did a lot of research and decided this would be worth a try since it was under a hundred. I haven't got to use it much yet but did try it out in the garden. It was heavy enough to get in and get the work done but not too heavy to bring with me where I needed it. Teeth are strong and really sink into our rocky soil. The handle makes it easy to adjust the angle without pulling it out and trying again.

After 40 years of gardening this is most ergonomic digging fork I have ever used. The unique round handle allows you to place your hands at any point on the handle, making it easier on you and more efficient at digging. The stainless steel tines are are unfazed by our clay soil, and still shiny after several years of nearly continuous use. It is such a great tool than my husband uses it instead of the old D handle fork. Any avid gardener will appreciate this tool. I love mine so much that I just bought one for my son. Choose this one, you won't be sorry!!!

This isn't like your ordinary garden fork. Since it's all stainless steel and the entire shank is steel, this tool will last many, many years to come. I work organic matter deep into my soil using this tool. I also use it to lift potatoes out of the ground and to get rid of deeply rooted weeds. It does very well for a hand tool to loosen soil and it's built very, very strong for many years of use. I will definitely buy again but since it's so well made, I hope the company is around in 30 years when I accidentally lose this one.

If the root of a plant is difficult to zero in on (e.g. plants with large basal leaves like burdock), then a wider spade, like Radius' Root Slayer is less exacting in it's placement for cutting the root. Otherwise, it is excellent, and a better choice for hard soils.

I didn't think I could love a shovel more than this brand's transplant shovel.... until now. Wow - goes in like a knifeand gets under annoying weeds. Next I'll try it on all the baby pecan trees planted by the squirrels. I can see it doing a great job for deep bulb holes in the fall. Get it

This is a pricey shovel but I feel it is worth the extra money.
