Magnetic Stove Top Thermometer

Paint did NOT peel off after first use as other users have reported with the other brands which are not made in the USA. Tested its accuracy with a digital infrared thermometer, this Midwest Stove Thermometer is within 10 to 25 + or - degrees accurate (which in my opinion is perfect accuracy for its intended purpose, see attached picture.) Very happy I went with this Made in USA thermometer, trying to save a few dollars on an inferior product that will fail rapidly and which might not even be accurate out of the box is not worth it. The text and readout is porcelain not cheap ink/print like the other inferior models sold on Amazon. If you want a Stove Thermometer that will last you years - maybe even indefinitely - this is the brand you want. I plan on purchasing the chimney model now as well after seeing how well this stove top version has worked.

Seems to be more accurate than others I have purchased in the past based on comparisons with an infrared thermometer. Also, marked for stove top while many are marked for flue pipe use.

Well made and works great! It enables me to monitor the temperature and ensure that the fireplace is at the proper temperature; mostly make sure it is sufficiently hot.

Clings tightly to a hot wood stove or metal stove pipe. Easy to read from a distance. I wish there were finer temperature increments instead of 100 degree integrals. 25 degree and 50 degree segments would be helpful, but that is a personal preference. It is built well. You can feel the quality.

Well I bought cheap one at the tractor store after my last one sprung lose. It never really seemed right so I suspected it was off. Sure enough got this new USA one today and now I can control my fire better with accurate readings

I was questioning the accuracy of this gauge when we first tried it. We placed it centered on the top of our wood stove. It almost never got to the "best" setting. Primarily, it stayed in the "creosote" range. Disappointed, we purchased an infrared surface gauge. Sure enough, this unit was accurate for that location. We had to move it to the side and back of the stove (still on the top surface) to get it to show the "best" range. Moral of the story, if it doesn't appear accurate, move it to a different area of your wood stove surface. I don't know why right in front, ours was reading 150-200 degrees lower than other surface areas.

This was a great addition to the wood stove that I purchased recently. I'm not sure why the stove doesn't have a built in thermometer, but it doesn't. This attached to the outside of the stove, so I put it on the front right over the door. It probably doesn't give the temperature right inside the stove but it is a good guide.

This has a strong magnet that keeps it in place and seems to be accurate.

Nice size and appears to be accurate. Its pricey compared to others but I wanted something that was accurate and would stand up. Only been using it for a few weeks so far and still looks like new.

The Midwest Hearth Wood Stove Thermometer works very well. Being made in the USA the product construction and operations if far superior to the Chinese knock off. The unit gave me tremendous insight for operating my wood stove. The thermometer arrived 8 days before the scheduled delivery date; a quick delivery from the east coast of the USA to me in Australia.
