Ergonomic design. Perfect functionality.
Spice grinder and cellar in 1: The lid is hermetically sealed so stored seasoning stays good longer. I prefer this type of cast iron spice grinder over manual chopping, electric chop-type grinder, or pestle/mortar. Very functional, manual tool allows fine control over grind quality (but impractical for large volume grinding). And the shape is very ergonomic. The brush is useless (so I use my wife's pastry brush to get all the spice out). FYI, it's cast iron so after seasoning, **DO NOT WASH**. Use brush to get spice out. If washing is needed, treat it like a cast iron pan.

Cast iron Pepper Grinder
This item is heavy, be careful around countertops, it grinds from cracked pepper to coarse meat pepper, and fine pepper do not put in to much to grind, a level teaspoon seems about right, the parts are not attached to each other, so be careful , keep away from glass stove tops, it is easy to use but don't press really hard.the wooden lid does not attach, I store peppercorns in mine.I really like mine, an interesting Old School item.

I use this to grind flax seeds only and I love it!

Way smaller than represented
It's about 25% of the size represented. It's actually for weed, it's worthless for anything else.

Missing items
I would give a higher rating but it didn’t come with the cleaning brush. Other than that it’s great quality

Give it a twist
My first impression of this spice grinder is that it looks great. The size is perfect for holding while you twist it for grinding. We only used it for peppercorns, but I'm sure it would be equally effective on any hard spices or salt. One suggestion was to grind sea salt into fine popcorn salt, which I might have to try next. At first it seemed to just roll the peppercorns around, but a quick smack on the top cracked them enough to get the grind going. Then it was extremely effective. I like that you can store spices in the top cup—the wooden lid seals with a rubber gasket—but you can only store one spice. And it's really only good for storage, since there are no holes for sprinkling. I use the grinder to fill my pepper shaker. It's easy to grind small amounts to have fresh pepper at all times. I'm sure this little grinder will be around for a long time.
