I really, really like this grinder.
Before buying this I read the reviews complaining about noise, mess and complexity. It was with some trepidation, then, that I placed the order. I've had noisy grinders. One famous make is loud enough that I routinely left the room while it ran. This OXO grinder is not noisy by any stretch, running at a low growl even without being placed on a towel to buffer the vibration. As to mess and complexity, operation is simple and foolproof. Put beans in the top. Press the button. When it stops grinding, twist the top to remove the grinder assembly and, lo, there rests the ground coffee with (hopefully) all the aroma you put into roasting. I'll admit to adopting some degree of preparation. It requires a cereal bowl, a spoon and a coffee filter. When the grind is complete, twist and remove the grinder (top portion) assembly and place it with burr down on the open coffee filter. Tilt and pour the grounds into the cereal bowl. Reassemble the grinder. Place the filter in the coffee machine and measure the coffee into the filter with the spoon. Any extra coffee is placed in a waiting grounds jar. Yes, it's mind-boggling in its complexity. Often one or two specks escape and hide on the counter top. My wife offered to assist if I'm unable to deal with it. Usually while rinsing the bowl and spoon. I know, extra work. I've had less static buildup and messy operation with OXO than with more famous grinders that take up twice the counter space, howl like a banshee and explode their grounds across the kitchen. In contrast, this is solid, relatively quiet, and radiates durability in the look and feel. I'm very pleased with it.

Fresh Coffee at Home โ Great Grinder for the Price!
This grinder has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen setup! I love grinding fresh coffee beans, and it truly feels like a game changer for flavor compared to preโground coffee. The grind quality is very consistent thanks to the conical burr design, and breaking it down by hand after each use is a breeze โ the parts are easy to take apart and clean thoroughly. ๐ Pros: โ Fresh flavor boost โ grinding beans fresh really improves the coffee taste. ๐งผ Easy to clean โ removable burrs and simple design make cleanup quick. โ๏ธ Adjustable grind โ multiple settings let you dial in the grind size you prefer. ๐ธ Great value โ excellent performance without spending a ton on a grinder. ๐ Cons: โฑ๏ธ Takes a little time โ you might spend a couple extra minutes getting the grind just right, especially if you tweak the setting. Overall, Iโm really happy with the quality and how much better my coffee tastes now that Iโm grinding fresh beans. If you want a solid conical burr grinder thatโs easy to use and clean without spending a lot, this is a strong choice! โ๐

Great Grinder - A Little Messy - Overall No Regrets
What I love about this grinder: Easy to dial grind size: the grind is extraordinarily consistent, and I have dialed in the perfect grain size for my Chemex pour-over. Quiet: this may be the quietest coffee grinder I have ever used. I don't think it's efficiently possible to make a grinder silent, but this one is significantly quieter than grinders I have used in the past. What I don't like: Very hard to clean. This grinder has sort of an awkward setup, after removing the grinder to access the ground coffee, grind residue is left clinging to the grinder component. Because of how you must disassemble the grinder, it is very hard to not get coffee grinds on the counter or other surfaces. It's a small sacrifice to pay for an otherwise quality product. I have no regrets on the purchase, but think it could use some work on design to mitigate grind mess.

Very pleased with this grinder.
Had been struggling with my coffee having a sour taste regardless of the beans, water temp, or brew time. Aeropress. Grind about 5 days worth at a time. Tried daily grinding - still sour. Friend suggested trying to beans grind finer. Old flat burr affordable grinder just couldnโt seem to grind finer. Time to shop for replacement. Criteria (in no particular order) was something that would fit in cabinet when not needed (very small kitchen), good rating for finer grind, no need for espresso fine, easy to clean, and not break the bank. Dithered over buying this or a baratza. Choose this one due to compact size, price, good rating from wire cutter, and easy to clean. No regrets! Morning coffee greatly improved with a 7 grind, fits easily in cabinet, and so easy to take apart and brush clean. Yes, there is a bit of grinds on counter and some static, but not a problem. Much less mess than former grinder. Good price and greatly improved coffee.

Love this little ( but not too little) grinder
Perfect compact size grinder for people who want to use fresh beans every time without using a big, loud, high capacity machine. Itโs quiet enough to use early morning for my pour over coffee and doesnโt make a huge mess. Itโs easy to wipe clean too. I took the manufacturerโs advice and did a light spritz of water on the beans before grinding and it eliminated the static problem that all these machines seem to have. They even provide a tiny, little spray bottle for the purpose. The grinder itself feels well made, heavy duty even. All the parts fit together well and the grind settings function gives a wide array of choices from fine to coarse. Iโm happy with my OXO grinder. Take time to read the user manual because someone took the time to write it for us and it would be inconsiderate not to, but seriously, good tips on grind consistency, how to clean it and operating functions in there.

Great grinder, very cool looking, good value!
Really good, stylish, looks fantastic on my counter. Smaller and cheaper than Breville and just as effective!

Great grinder for most brewing methods, look elsewhere for espresso though!
I've had this grinder now for about five months. It's very easy to clean. I originally bought it to work alongside a Technivorm Moccamaster. I could not make a decent cup of coffee so I returned the moccamaster. I used the grinder with a percolator and an aeropress, no complaints there. Then I went a step further and purchased an espresso machine both the Breville Bambino Plus [it was on sale!] and the Casabrews Ultra. I tried hard to "dial" in the espresso this is just not fine enough for either and I've tried various brands of coffee beans [mostly dark roast]. This for sure, at least for me, can not do fine enough grind for medium or light roast beans. I want to have just a great cup of espresso without any milk or cream or syrups. This will get you a great cortado, cappucino, etc., but not just a pure espresso, with great, freshly roasted beans. It does everything else well. I even got a V60 pourover cup and it works great! The Oxo smart grinder, which holds more beans, is better for espresso and all other coffee-making methods! I'll upgrade soon enough, this is so easy to clean! One problem that is annoying is that it doesn't slot back in easily every time. You have to remove the middle cup every time to get the ground beans out and slotting and twisting everything back together for another batch is sometimes not smooth.

Simple, easy, and effective.
Very satisfied! I'm not a "wanna-be" barista. If, like me, you're a couple-times-a-week-grinder for your favorite espresso/french press, then this is great. Confirming some details from other reviews, yes... the grinding process can get a little messy. BUT, it's a predictable and easily controlled situation. Namely, put a paper towel under it to catch the few ground which spill when separately the container with the ground coffee. And its sealed, modular design makes cleaning very easy. I keep two brushes handy: a simple soft make-up brush and a cheap 1 inch paint brush.

Remember that the quality of the coffee beans you use is very important!
Excellent coffee grinder! Despite that is made in China, works very well. I was looking for a compact electric burr grinder, and after so much research, this is the smallest one and reliable I fund. Of course, the ones made in Europe are much more effective, but for household use, it works fantastic. Coffee ground settings from very tiny (for espresso) or very corse for regular coffee drip machine and french press. Easy to store in a deep drawer. Remember that the quality of the coffee beans you use is very important!
