I have used it a few times and it works well. I think as long as the blade is sharp it will work.

Used this skiver twice. Once to get the thickness where I wanted it and then rolled the dice and skived a belt that was almost complete. I was relieved to see the thickness came out perfect. The cut surface was smooth and uniform in thickness. You definitely need a scrap piece to get the thickness set just right but it did a very nice job on a 2” wide belt. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is that the thickness adjustment screws do not have a locking nut to prevent any accidental movement. Locking nuts are something I will add myself at some point.

Worked great for skiving leather under 2 inches

I think for thicker and wider leather it might work. I was trying to get thinner straps for a bag and it was just not working. The tension screws were coming loose every few inches and then it would shave down the leather til it cuts off. When it was working it wasn’t consistent. Maybe for keychains it would be helpful, but I wished I would have watched YT reviews before buying.
