Rings of Power, The Secrets of Successful Suspension Training--A Simple, Proven System For Building Sustainable Strength

Great for what it is
I really like this book, but the price is a bit much for what you get. Barely 100 pages of content for $30? My fault for not looking more carefully at the product description, I confess, and if it had more exercises, that wouldn't be anything I'd be commenting on, but there's only eight main exercises, two advanced ones, and an extended ad for another Dragon Door toy, the Wobble Bar (giving me flashbacks to Pavel's plugs for his Pavelizer). But what's there is really good, and the pictures are very helpful, which is a point that some other books (like Overcoming Gravity, which is a genius work overall) fall short on. The two suggested workout regimens are good, but, again, more would be appreciated. I'd love the author's suggestions as to how to best incorporate ring work into an exercise program that isn't entirely focused on rings. I can figure that out myself, but that really should be a no-brainer of an inclusion: most readers cannot be expected to abandon their favorite equipment and exercises for something novel. Even Convict Conditioning had a section on incorporating weight training into the calisthenics of that book, and Paul Wade loathes weights. Again, I want to emphasize that this is a really good introduction to what to do with your rings, told in a clear manner with great pictures, but I just want more.

Rings of Power is a must have resource for any serious strength athlete or coach
Because they’re seldom seen outside the realm of competitive gymnastics, rings haven’t found their way into the training repertoire of most strength coaches. They tend to be perceived as either too mysterious or too difficult for “regular” athletes, or are simply misunderstood. This book changes all that. Rings of Power serves as the most compelling case for ring training I’ve ever come across. Moreover, it teaches you exactly how to build what Mike describes in the book as ‘movement-centric’ strength in a way that is accessible to almost anyone. After reading Rings of Power, I put Mike’s lessons to work with my athletes immediately, and have been able to introduce an additional stressor that will lead to even greater results from their training!J.C. Great.
I have a lot of exercise books and among other things workout on rings every few days. What I liked about this book is lots of progressions and photos. Some books gloss over progressions and jumping into rings and trying full forms I'd begging for an injury. Mike Gilette is knowledgeable, strong as you can imagine, and has lead one hell of a life. I recommend this more than lots of dragon door books. Not knocking dragon door as they have a lot to teach, they just kind of put out a product a week. Mike Gilette is a badass.

Great Book
This is an excellent, well-explained and well-illustrated exercise book. The author is a great guy with a good philosophy of human health and strength. There is a simplicity about the book's organization, and each exercise has progressions so you can make it harder and more challenging. And while there are not a ton of exercises, I believe that the ones given are adequate to cover every muscle group that can be exercised using rings.

Basic. But good.
Like others have said, for the $10 I paid, this is a fantastic resource. It's very basic, for those who are just getting started with rings. But the pictures are amazing...so clear and big. It's so easy to see exactly what the author wants you to do. Highly recommended for beginners.

Mike Gillette knows as much about strength training as anyone ...
Mike Gillette knows as much about strength training as anyone and in his book he shows you how to use just a set of rings to do just that.
