Major Movie Star [DVD]

Unoriginal, will never win any awards for acting or direction but for switching your brain off for 90 odd minutes on a Sunday afternoon this is perfect. Well paced, very enjoyable and even quite funny in parts. The often slated Jessica Simpson is very good in this, she's likable and you genuinely want her character to do well. However, despite it's appearance it should be noted it features a few things that make it a bit uncomfortable for family viewing- there's a brief sex scene, swearing and drink driving. Personally this didn't bother me, but as this is the sort of film parents might buy for younger kids to either watch on their own or as a family I think they should be aware

For the low price for which it was offered it was a gamble; I'm no JS fan but I do like a good "find yourself-movie". I still bought it with some trepidation.I have now watched it with good result. Yes, it fairly predictable; a movie-star finds herself in the Army after experiencing her life crushed to the ground. She hates it at first, of course, but then she starts to realize that there are other things in life than fake friends and expensive clothes.I won't go as far as to say that it's a remake of Private Benjamin, although there are similarities. You can also find references to Cadet Kelly (Hillary Duff) and GI Jane (Demi Moore).Vivica Fox does an excellent job and so does several others.All in all, completely worth a few pounds/dollars/euro and an evening with pop-corn.Three and a half stars is what it is worth.

I recommend this DVD. I know its had bad reviews but i enjoyed it. I thought Jessica Simpson played a good part and dont think i could have pictured anyone else playing the role of Hollywood ( Megan Valentine)

I chose this as I saw a trailer for it and thought a light hearted movie to watch.Unfortunately I found the main actress couldn't act it didn't flow.A could story line hence 1 star but with different actors it would of been a cool movie.
