Deadly Class Volume 1: Reagan Youth (DEADLY CLASS TP)

A new kid in town
Set in the late 1980s Deadly Class sees teenage street urchin Marcos Lopez given the opportunity to hone his burgeoning killer instincts at King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts where the world’s deadliest crime syndicates send their new generation of killers to be schooled in all things assassin. At first I wasn’t overly impressed as things seemed to click into place a little too neatly to allow the story to progress and the actions of some of the main characters, even allowing for the subject matter, seemed clichéd and over the top. However reading on (and delving a bit more into the past) you begin to understand why certain things happened and why certain characters did certain things leading to a highly enjoyable read. The final third of the book, a road trip to Vegas, is some of the cleverest and funniest writing I have experienced for some time.Whilst the writing is very good and times great it is the fantastic, almost surreal artwork and colouring that boosts this book into the graphic novel stratosphere. Whilst some graphic novels go overboard on the colour and the detail the stripped back illustrations offer an exhilarating and emotional ride through the lives of the young assassins. All in all this is one of the best new titles I have read this year and I highly recommended it.

A twisted and awesome comic book
One of the best comics I've ever read. Adolescent killers is subject that's been covered in works such as Battle Royale and Lord of the Flies but this comic goes to a different territory. Assassination, poison, beheading, these are some of the subjects that the students learn in Kings Dominion of the Deadly Arts. Remender does not disapoint in writing a story that's dark, compelling, clever and thrilling. The story is complemented by Craig's wicked artwork and Loughbridge's colouring. I cannot recommend this comic enough :) the quick and free delivery and low price makes it a awesome deal. Cannot wait for volume 2

Really good read
I brought this comic on a whim as I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it but I was very wrong! It hits current topics such as mental health whilst being interesting, exciting with a fun element of being set in a murder school!!

Breakfast Club meets Kick-Ass
This is begging to be made into a movie. Does a great job of depicting a moment in time, as well as getting under the skin of a brilliant motley crew of characters. Breakfast Club meets Kick Ass. More!

Brilliant!
I loved this so much!!!! I found the show first and loved it so much that I bought this! Now I just need to persuade someone into buying me the rest 😭😭But I definitely recommend to anyone who likes a bit of realism mixed if psychopathy and the pure torture of being a teen... even if you don’t like comics/graphic novels, it’s a masterpiece!

High-stakes growing pains
Whether you're an edgy teenager, or someone who can remember growing up in the eighties, this book should really tap a nerve.Emotionally gripping and always surprising, this is the tale of a kid with a brutal past, thrown into a cutthroat class of similar outsiders, all of whom have similarly murky stories to tell. Friends and enemies are quickly made, all under the watchful eye of a mysterious principal who appears to be pulling all the strings...It's exciting, violent, nostalgic, occasionally very funny and altogether quite touching.

Uncomfortably Adictive.
I picked this collection up on Kindle on a recommendation and due to a good introductory price – I very rarely stray from superhero fare. The artwork is engaging and the panel by panel view adds a fluid quality that benefits the presentation. The writing is surprisingly engaging as the characters are hardly endearing yet connect with the reader quickly and deeply. The plot is fairly slim and not really indicative of the overall experience provided by reading this book, all I can say is that I feel I should not have liked this at all but I was quickly engrossed, involved, interested and yet ...repulsed.Difficult to define or explain I can only highly recommend you give it a try.

I will probably have to read this more than once to fully understand it.
I will probably have to read this more than once to fully understand it.On the surface, its a book about a secret school of Assassins who work all over the world. On another level its a book about friends finding themselves and each other. And on a further level, its about a boy who lost everything, plotting his revenge against the president of America. Now I never really got the whole president assassination thing and don't know American politics well enough to say why one president is significantly better than another but the book is an interesting read nonetheless. If your not into school stories or political stuff, I would avoid this but if you can get past that, this book is just a really interesting coming of age story. Not the best I've read but worth checking out the first trade, especially as image sells most volume ones for much cheaper than standard trades.

Awesome
One of my favorite most consistent series of all time. Never disappointed. I recommend reading all the way to the end, as the author totally sticks the landing. The art is amazing and fluid and cinematic.

Harry Potter rencontre Dirty Harry
