This rolling knife sharpener works better than I expected it to. I for sure thought it was just going to be a novelty. I put it to task on one of my dull, low budget knives first. With just a few minutes of work the edge was brought back to a serviceable sharpness.Like others have stated I was concerned about the length of the magnetic angle holder. For longer knives the tip felt unsupported. Moving the magnet toward the tip after concentrating on the back half made me feel more secure and confident.The instructions included in the box are decidedly lacking in details about the sharpening process. You'll have to come back here and look at the pictures or go to Youtube like I did.

When I first saw this as a sharpener, I was not convinced it would work. I got the idea that it kept it the right angle for sharpening, but the fact you had to keep lateral pressure on it and depend on a magnet to keep it steady, I didnt think it would do all that well.Im happy to say my fears were unfounded. This sharpener actually works quite well. The magnets are what makes it all work. They are strong magnets and keep the largest of knives steady and sturdy so you can get a good amount of pressure on the blade to sharpen it. What I also found is the magnet is just strong enough that if you press to hard on the blade, which would cause damage, the magnet gives way. So it makes you keep just the right amount of pressure to sharpen. Add that to the correct angle and it really does a good job.

Sharping disks ware down quick. Save your money and put towards a higher quality sharpener that you can get replacement sharpening disks. OK for small pocket knife but won't go any bigger nor heavier. I will NEVER get this one again.

This style of sharpener is innovative and neat, but this specific product is a bust. The material grade (grit) for sharpening just wear out TOO FAST and are not up for regular/frequent use--- if you're looking to sharpen up a full set of kitchen cutlery from your counter block, you'll go through all of this product's grit surfaces just to get through the block once! Wild. This is just a cash-grab on an otherwise popular and functional design style, and seems low-value and disappointing overall.. would not recommend.

I returned this rolling knife sharpener, because 2 of the 4 magnets that hold the sanding disks in place fell out after one day's use, due to a poor glue joint. Also the course diamond disk just about wore out after sharpening 6 knives. Its hard to see but the disk on the left is new and the one on the right one is the used disk. Also when I removed the rollers, I discovered that the bearings were rusty.I ordered another brand of rolling sharpener and so far the magnets are secure, the bearings are bright and shinny, the holding block is larger and holds the knives more securely. I gave the original knife sharpener 2 stars because it did sharpen all the knives, but so did the new one, and best of all the new one cost half as much.
