I rely on a mouse when working on my laptop rather than using the touchscreen. Unfortunately, I have only one USB port, so if I want to add an extra webcam, USB headphones, or an external drive, I’m somewhat stuck. This simple USB hub effectively solved my problem by adding four extra ports for accessories. Like most USB accessories, it’s plug-and-play, so installation is automatically handled. The USB 3.0 port is also a nice addition and makes data transfers to and from external drives efficient. This is definitely a recommended accessory if you’re in a similar situation with limited onboard USB support.

I have several USB-A devices required to authorize software used in my home studio digital audio workstation. The problem for me is that each device requires its own USB-A port.This inexpensive hub is a perfect solution. I plugged it into the USB-A port on my keyboard and it works perfectly and keeps the software authorization USB-A dongles out of the way.Highly recommend for those with similar setups. I'm getting a Mac Mini for Christmas and since it has no USB-A ports on it, I needed a way to connect older accessories to it. I thought this hub would be perfect since it wouldn't take too much desk space. I was actually surprised at how small it really was when I got it. The hub is perfect for a laptop such as a MacBook since it's so compactAlthough I don't have my Mac yet, I do have a Windows machine that has USB-C ports and was able to test the hub that way. As soon as I plugged in the hub I got that familiar Windows sound when you plug in an accessory. Within seconds the hub was ready to use. Then I plugged in a keyboard, a mouse and a flash drive. All of the accessories were recognized and functioning. Then I plugged in a portable disc drive and that also worked fine. I was able to read and write files without an issue. The best port for a hard drive is the one on the end since that is the only USB 3 port on the hub. As a matter of fact that is the only downside to the hub. Why not just make the entire hub USB 3? The hub is good as long as you don't need to connect a lot of high speed data transfer devices.

GOOD GRIEF EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND THERE IS YET ANOTHER PIECE OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT THAT NEEDS TO BE CHARGED. MY POOR LITTLE LAPTOP JUST CAN NOT ACCOMMODATE ALL THE NEEDED USB PORTS. I SEVERAL MONTHS AGO ORDERED SOMETHING SIMILAR TO THIS ONE BUT I'M TELL YOU, THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE USB HUB EXTENDER THAT TAKES MY TWO LITTLE USB PORTS AND GIVES ME 4 PORTS IN ONE! THE BEST PART OF THIS ONE IS THAT IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY ANNOYING, HOT POKER IN THE EYE LED LIGHT LIKE MY 1ST ONE DID! IT TOO WAS A 4 PORT EXTENDER BUT EVEN WITH SOMETHING PLUGGED INTO THE SLOT CLOSEST TO THE LED LIGHT IT STILL SHINES EVEN BRIGHTER! I FINALLY GAVE UP AND HAD TO PUT SEVERAL STRIPS OF BLACK ELECTRICAL TAPE OVER THE END SLOT TO KEEP IT FROM POKING MY EYE OUT.I'M SERIOUS WHEN I SAID, "GRAB IT BEFORE IT'S GONE!!!!" I'VE TRIED TO FIND THIS USB 3.0 HUB EXTENDER AND IT WAS JUST THIS MONTH THAT I FINALLY FOUND ONE! All four ports work fine, the problem is that the three on the side are too loose and the cables fall out. I tried the three cables for my microphone, printer, and monitor uplink and all have the same result. After plugging them in, I barely touch them and they fall out. The port on the bottom is the only one that the plug actually clicks in and is locked in securely.
