Psychedelic bird deterrent
Worked great to keep a woodpecker from destroying our cedar housing boards. Also, good for Halloween timing.

It works!
Had a problem with Starling’s wanting to build a nest on the patio. I hung one of these and they never came back. It really works!

Keeps Woodpeckers Away. Not Very Sturdy
We had an issue with woodpeckers visiting us in the morning. we live in a refurbished 19th century log cabin, so we wanted to keep the outside looking great. We hung these in the eves of our roof where the woodpeckers were visiting the most. We no longer had an issue with visits. The only downside is they blow like crazy in the wind, and got very battered around the edges during a wind storm. They are just a two sheets of plastic with reflective material inside, held up by a thick string. I'm not sure they are the best solution, but they do the job as long as they survive.

They don't work for cardinals.
Our window-bashing cardinal was utterly nonplussed. Even when the wind sent the fake owl spinning around in the air, Red Fred kept sitting in the azalea bush and periodically attacking his reflection in the window. We tried moving it, hanging it differently, putting it on the window, nothing worked. If your problem is a cardinal, try something else because the combined noise from this (we even tried using one of the 2 pack by cutting off the bells that were driving us nuts) combined with the bird bopping himself silly was too much. We finally put them away and a week later the bird started showing up less often. He currently visits about once a week now. We assume he found a lady cardinal and is busy making a nest. Point? These were a waste of money (and rather annoying) and I wouldn't recommend them for a similar problem. They are also really really ugly to look at.

These things work like a MIRACLE !
I was skeptical, I will admit, but we have woodpeckers banging on our front windows relentlessly from sunrise until mid-day, EVERY DAY. We were going nuts! I remember that farmers used to hang plastic owl sculptures in their cornfields to scare away crows from eating the crops, so I thought " what the heck," for a nominal price and easy install, I figured I would try it.We put two hanging in our front window where they mostly peck and then a few more tacked to the tree right outside that window, where they hang out.Next morning: SILENCE ! But I thought, maybe its a coincidence, I waited. Next morning: SILENCE ! They work like a charm and the birds are NOWHERE around the front of the house, I don't hear them sqwaking, nothing. GONE.The birds are beautiful but not when they keep us from sleep and do nuisance behavior like this. These items WORK. Now, I don't know how long they will last, but I will happily buy more....they are a few bucks each.....a bargain at twice the price !

Arrived without bells
I purchased these owls last summer and hung them in trees next to the house to deter woodpeckers from pecking on the siding. We did not have any woodpeckers during the time they were up so they seem to work quite well. However, they tore apart and fell down during fall. I just purchased a new pack of owls since the woodpeckers came back this summer, but they arrived without the hanging bells. This is of course a huge disappointment. I still put them up as I do not want to wait for a replacement. Time will tell if they still work without the bells.
