Radar gun great for young, recreational baseball players
This is a great purchase for recreational league players or young players, used as a relativity tool to compare one pitcher to another. It is accurate enough for our boys, who throw 50-60 mph. You can simulate comparable speeds in batting practice, based on your boys’ registered data, and you can generate apple-to-apple comparisons amongst your teammates of who is throwing faster. It has a wide/narrow setting that helps, depending on your angle, which is especially helpful if you don’t have the straight-line umpire viewpoint. It comes with a tripod you can set up near the pitcher’s arm, but I prefer the umpire/catcher view. The physics of the Doppler effect would suggest, in my opinion, that it has a higher likelihood of being accurate if it is being approached head-on by a baseball, rather than measuring bat speed that is moving through an arc, but this is just my physics-based opinion. Is it completely accurate? This is the big question. I can’t tell the difference between 52 and 55 mph, nor can most observers. I will say it does represent a faster speed for the boy who throws faster, every time it displays an alleged velocity. For our team and usage needs, this was exactly what we needed, and the boys enjoyed using it. If you are a professional high-school pitching coach, then you may want to look at other high-dollar options.

Works well enough for our needs
Seems to be accurate and it works every time we need it. Quality seems to be good and it's easy to just set it up and get to work. It's the same size as others that we used. I don't have any complaints about it

no merece una estrella entera
If you're considering buying this radar, I wouldn't recommend it for people who throw over 80 mph. It's unreliable in those cases. I purchased it, and as a pitcher with an average speed of 88 mph, I noticed it’s not consistent. Sometimes it gives incorrect readings, like 98 mph, which is not accurate because I tested it alongside other, more reliable radars.

Works great for hockey, other than the stand
The media could not be loaded. I got this to measure the speed of my hockey shots and so far I am very happy with it. It seems to be very accurate and does a good job at picking up the puck. I did have to move it around to get the right angle to read the puck but not pick up the stick so I found that just above the net pointing down a bit was good as behind the net would pick up the stick as well as (or rather than) the actual puck. I like that is has auto-off after a certain amount of time of no use so it doesn't waste batteries and the display is nice and big and can easily be seen. The only thing that isn't great is the little tripod stand it comes with, it's pretty cheap and while it does do the trick it really isn't durable enough for the kinds of activities this is going to be involved with, mine was bent after the first use, but for me not a big deal because the gun has a standard tripod mount on the bottom so I just bought an adapter to attach it right to my hockey net frame, which is much better for what I am doing that the tripod. That is the only reason I am giving this 4 stars rather than 5, but nothing to do with the radar gun, just the cheap tripod.

Great for the price
Good for the price. It's not heavy duty like higher priced ones, so might not survive a fall onto concrete. But it seems to work well. We actually tested it in our subdivision to see if it matched what the speedometer in the car read. It worked. Then we also found out how fast some of the neighbors were driving!

Accurate
The boys at baseball practice love this. They use it for motivation. It was simple to set up and reads the speed with great accuracy. Very functional and great for the price.
