I almost sent the chess set back because it wasn’t functioning right. It was saying illegal move, or don’t move more than one piece at a time and a number of other things during play. I finally figured out what was wrong, and this is a word of advice to everybody, do not put any pieces in the drawers under the chessboard while it is on. The magnets on the chess pieces were confusing the chessboard. You can put the pieces in when the chessboard is turned off, or you’re transporting it, but make sure you take those pieces out before you turn it on. I think the manual should have had a warning about that. Now that I don’t have any pieces in the drawers the chess board is working great, and I love it.

Positives - #1 Magnetic pieces hold the pieces very well if you tilt the board (I play reclining slightly with it on my lap).#2 LED lights are a plus also (very necessary as the LCD display is amazingly small where I need a magnifying glass to process thru its menus)!Negatives - #1 The decision to have white pieces CRYSTAL CLEAR interferes with identifying pieces especially between Bishops versus Pawns. But all “White” pieces ( identification is harmed, even for Knights. #2 Piece storage - I purchased a small wooden storage box and used to place pieces removed from a game (learned a serious lesson with a misplaced rook, looking for it was very annoying). #3 Voice - terrible for those like me with hearing aids, so human-like. In fact primitive in content.—Summary - For young chess fans, it’s wonderful. Almost certainly most with excellent hearing and excellent sight! I asked for too much that the game was inadequate to satisfy. My desire to touch pieces versus my iPad chess apps ended in failure.
