Probably the best hang on back nano filter I’ve owned. I would be confident saying it’s the quietest. Works super well with shrimp tanks because of the sponge filter on the bottom. The flow is not harsh either and is even better with the adjustable piece to slow it down.

Recently installed the Hygger HOB filteronto my 125 gallon aquarium in conjunction with my Flugal FX6 Cannister filter to maintain crystal clear water, as well as, healthy environment for my fresh water fish. Easy to install and adjust water flow. Be sure to keep replacement filtration pads on hand as this does a great job removing unwanted "solids" from the water!

I give it 5 star for fast cleaning the water, a 4 for noise, it’s not loud but there’s a hum I didn’t hear from my previos filter

The media could not be loaded. I was searching for a new HOB to possibly replace my Top Fin Pro 50 and this thing blew my socks off!! It checks all the boxes for me. Has a back to front flow, telescopic intake, smart sensor for clogging filter, the pump is outside the tank but no o-ring that can cause a leak, sleek profile, grated lid so no condensation buildup, translucent color and a decent amount of space for filter media. Although it isn’t self priming as long as you don’t let the water get below the fill line which is pretty low it won’t have any problems starting back up after a power outage. The material seems sturdy enough and it’s quiet for sure. Oh and I’m not sure if Hygger or Top Fin know this but their intake tubes are the exact same part and I’m able to switch them out if I want to use the surface skimmer from my Top Fin Pro on my Hygger lol. I didn’t think my 29g overstocked with guppies could get any clearer but aside from my old Marineland this filter is the best HOB I’ve ever owned and I have tried them all on tanks going up to 75g. It’s only been 2 months but I don’t foresee any complaints based on it’s performance thus far. I will be upgrading my 75g next! Hygger for the W

It’s very loud. If I could pick a different product I would just due to the noise. After a water change you have to really watch it and make sure the water level doesn’t rise and overflow out of the filter on the floor. They do have a red light to signal that the water level is too high and a lid but water can still come out. Other than that the filter works well. Just make sure to keep an eye on it.

I have had my own aquarium business as well as worked as a Manager and Distruct Manager of several pet stores through the years, not to mention being in the hobby for 50yrs. I have seen and sold every HOB filter that was manufactured.This filter beats them all. I will say that I still use the AC bio sponges and bio media for the back of the filters to get more bio surface area. This filter is much more narrow than others, so the sponge just needs to be turned sideways and the ceramic media fits right on top of the sponge as well.The filter has to be filled with water before attaching the impeller mechanism or it won’t prime properly. Otherwise, it will be very noisy.These filters are quiet, and I like that there is a corse sponge to attach to the end of the tube. This is not only great for more bio surface, but especially useful for anyone raising fry, shrimp, snails, or nano fish.Excellent filters, will be purchasing these instead of whisper, AC, Penguin, or any other HOB filter that hasn’t made the cut.

Two in a row showed up not pumping correctly and both making a lot of noise. The second one was also previously used with cat hair and a broken lid.

This filter is perfect for my bookcase type fish tank. It doesn't take up too much space in the tank and is doesn't look too bad on the outside of the tank. The height is about 2 3/4 inches above the rim and about 2 inches from the tank's back wall.The strength is just right for my 16 gallon tank. The flow adjustment is a nice feature. It has enough space inside the filter that I am able to add a small UV filter to control algae. I clean my tank every week and it's very easy to clean the filter. Best filter I've had so far!
