I can't get nex gen stations in
So far I can't get any next gen TV stations they all have really poor signal on the channel Master website it says the next-gen stations have the strongest signals, I updated the software did the channel search all next-gen stations are available but very low signal enough that it won't be able to play now it says that these next gen stations have the strongest signal in my area but on the device they're so low and is unwatchable. I'm thinking of returning it I'm giving it a few days hopefully those channels will start working I contacted GTMEDIA through email but I haven't got a response yet. As of right now I do not recommend because it won't get the next-gen stations in.

Streaming device + receiver IF YOU DONT RUN the upgrade
I purchased this for the ATSC 3.0 receiving AND the Android TV os (with the ability to get to the OS). I had a pretty good experience and was surprised with the features and performance. Then I ran the update (no small feat) but upon rebooting, could only get to the HDTV player app. The computer would boot and go right to the app. I'm also pretty sure it reduced the tuners ability to bring in weaker ATSC 3.0 signals. My ATSC 3.0 worked fine prior to the update, but would not work after the update. Comments about the remote are correct, you have to aim it just right. I have not used the DVR yet. ATSC 1.0 is on par with other receivers, but this is not a signal magnet. I'm returning this one and will NOT run the update on the second one. I'll edit the review after that. GTMedia notes that the update is designed to now bypass the OS . Look at Freesat.cn -- "This version will directly boot into the HDTVPlayer upon system startup, allowing users to watch ATSC 3.0/1.0 programs. This version does not permit exiting the HDTVPlayer or installing other applications, which reduces the risks associated with the Android system and simplifies usage. Friends who need this can download and install it." ... please give me the "risk" back.Update ... there is a update available that will let you get back to the Android home screen (it does work BUT, the software still does not permit playing of a low signal strength ATSC 3.0 signal) . After comparing the return unit and the replacement, I was definitely sent an open box unit. Remote on the second one is much better. I'm still on the fence as far as a straight ATSC receiver. The ATSC3 in my area is still in its early stages and not broadcasting in HD yet so there no compelling reason to go to ATSC 3.0 for me. ATSC1 is ok, but my $25 no name receiver did better. I was able to install the actual version of Youtube, Haystack and Paramount + just fine. You are limited to the Google Playstores Android apps but they all seemed to work ok. I think I will keep it for now and just keep an eye on the ATSC3 developments in our market. I'm working on improving my antenna situation, but I cant justify an expensive antenna with so many steaming and news outlets. YouTubers - it would be interesting if you would run the update and let us know your results. If your looking for a plug and play ATSC 3.0 receiver, this one my not be for you. If you enjoy tweaking and are ok with some some rough edges on a TV receiver, go for it.

Problems connecting to a 2024 TCL QM7 TV, but workaround works fine.
Update to five stars, both problems below resolved: Unit turns off and on using the ARC connection, so no need to press the power button on the remote, solving the following concern. WAS: The remote switches off my TCL 65QM751G TV, making this unusable even if it did work. Two immediate problems:1) Update: The device works as intended plugged into my Yamaha Atmos system which is connected to the TCL. The Android TV interface comes up and I was able to scan for channels. WAS: After showing an initial GTMedia logo for 10 seconds or so, the image disappears, leaving my TV's "no signal, check connection" standard message. No Android TV interface shows up.2) The remote that comes with the GTMedia X1 will shut off my TV when I use it to turn on the X1. Annoyingly, it won't turn the TV back on... How can I be a self-respecting couch potato whe I have to get up from the couch and switch the X1 on at close range in order to watch broadcast TV? I'll be drummed out of the Couch Potato Union!

Totally worthless
Without the converter my television picked up 79 digital channels, with the converter only 8. In addition the thing is extremely hard to use.

I would pass on this HDTV converter if they don't improve it's performance.
Purchased this HDTV converter for it's ATSC 3.0 support. This box has very weak reception. I have multiple TVs and they all perform way better than this box. I was expecting the ATSC 3.0 to perform better which all articles on ATSC 3.0 state, but this wasn't the case. Never was able to program remote to control my tv. Haven't tried the DVR option yet.
