Great shoes
Very comfortable. Light and has a lot of room in the toe box. I like them.

Like a glove!
As a disc golfer, I was always trying to find a good pair of shoes with great traction and comfortable. Having size 13 extra wide feet, not an easy task. Friend of mine recommended Altras as they have a wide toe box. Got a pair of Lone Peak 7s a couple years ago and found that 12.5 wide is the perfect fit. The zero drop took a little getting used too but I must say, THE best pair of shoes I have ever had.Sadly, after 2 years of casual use, I was due for a new pair. I actually bought Lone Peak 9s but in 13 wide as that was all I could find. While nice, they were just a bit too long. Took them back and ordered these Lone Peak 8s in 12.5 wide."Like a glove!"The new best shoes I have ever worn for throwing some discs.Great traction, great color and very comfortable! The price is worth it!

My Go To for Backpacking
I give 5 stars to products that meet or exceed my expectations. These do. I bought them on a Friday and the following day went for a 3 night backpack of the TCT on Catalina. This is a ridge following trail with lots of rock and ups and downs. These trail shoes performed extremely well. They are very close to zero drop, but not quite. They breath well, have excellent grip uphill and downhill. I usually take a 12 in trail shoes but ordered a 12.5 because I owned the original Lone Peaks which proved too short in my regular size. The reason: I have a Morton toe (longer middle toe than the rest). If you are looking for shoes with a broad toe box that lets your toes spread out, this is the pair. If you are looking for some volume above you toes, this is the pair. If you are looking for a shoe with a soft but tight fitting heel counter, this the pair. Very Lightweight. Great Backpacking trail shoes.

Perfect Blend of Comfort and Performance
I recently upgraded to the ALTRA Men's Lone Peak 8 Trail Running Shoes, and they’ve quickly become my go-to pair for hitting the trails. One of the standout features is the exceptionally wide toe box. This design allows my toes to splay naturally, providing enhanced balance and reducing pressure during long runs. It’s a small detail that makes a huge difference in overall comfort, especially on uneven terrain.Another major plus is how lightweight these shoes are. The minimal weight helps me maintain speed and agility without feeling bogged down, which is essential for those fast-paced trail runs. Despite their light feel, they still offer robust support and protection, making them ideal for both rugged trails and everyday runs.Overall, the Lone Peak 8 delivers on every level—comfort, performance, and durability. Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or just getting started, these shoes are a fantastic investment for an improved running experience. Highly recommended!

OCR shoe
Got these for an OCR and to have a nice trail shoe. The outsole has some solid rubber lugs and feel good to run in. They seem to run a little bigger than their running shoes tho, recommend going 1/2 size down

Great shoe. Toe rubs through over time.
I stumbled across these shoes a couple years back while in colorado on vacation and this has been the only she I've worn since. (Lone peak) series. The shoe fits greatbi love the wide toe box. The only thing that makes me get a new shoe prior to the tread running out is my big toe usually rubbing a whole above it through the shoe. I have had my last 3 pairs do this. But that's all I can say against this shoe. I will still continue to wear these shoes. My suggestion is if you find one you like buy 2 pairs cause they make new models often of the lone peak and you may like the previous pairs. I personally like the 5 and 7 models. Hope this helps.

They work for me. On my 2nd pair.
Like any shoe, these can be a hit or miss depending on the shape of your foot. I suggest you try in a store first, if possible. For me, these are a 100% hit and I'm on my 2nd pair. I tried several Altra trail models and the LP8 felt the best. I also had not worn a zero-drop shoe prior to my first pair, and I really like them. The LP8 have just the right amount of cushion for me, and I don't feel there has been a lack of protection on technical trails, even with a loaded 55L backpack. I used to hike/backpack in a LaSportiva boot, but I'm a fan of using these for dry, 3-season conditions.I'm not a fan of the large stack height trail runners, so was more drawn to the LP. Hoka's and other brands just didn't work for my foot. I've primarily used these as my daily shoe (gym, walks, etc.) and for hiking/backpacking. I've done a couple backpacking trips with them in the Rockies this summer and while the soles have taken a beating, there are no tears in the shoe fabric. My only minor complaint is that the sole tread is soft and tends to wear pretty quickly if you're on pavement/technically rocky terrain a lot. Wear issues aside, I really enjoy this shoe as it works great for me. I'm 6' and 200 lbs. No blow outs in the fabric for me and the midsole has held up, even with heavy use.

Underwhelming update.
Altra Lone Peak 8 – Disappointing QualityI had high hopes for the Altra Lone Peak 8, but after just two weeks of wear, I’m extremely disappointed with the quality. These shoes are known for their comfort and wide toe box, which I did appreciate initially, but durability is a major issue.Within days, I noticed signs of premature wear—the outsole started showing excessive wear, and the upper material began to fray. For a shoe marketed as a rugged trail runner, it’s unacceptable that they’re breaking down this quickly. I expected them to last at least a few months, but at this rate, they might not even make it to a month. For the price, I expected much better durability. While they perform well on the trails in terms of grip and comfort, what’s the point if they fall apart so quickly? Unless Altra improves the construction quality, I can’t recommend the Lone Peak 8. Comfortable, but not built to last.
