Mike Holt's Electrical Exam Preparation textbook has helped thousands of people across the country pass their exam. The full-color illustrations help guide you through everything you need to know about calculations and help you review the theory that you will have on your exam. The book is designed for individual or classroom use and helps you learn the material and test your knowledge in each area. It has been designed for success and covers each of the areas where you need more review: * Overview of theory to improve your understanding of electrical essentials. * Comprehensive study of electrical calculations, using step-by-step instructions of how to set up the problems and work through them accurately. * Unit questions to test your knowledge as you progress through the material. * Over one thousand Code questions to test your knowledge of the NEC. Direct from Mike Holt Enterprises, Answer Key included. Review: Answer Key Now Included - Received it quickly w/ expedited shipping. Was concerned about the Answer Key, but was happy to find it was included in the book shipment. It looks helpful: Unit 1 = Electrical Theory incl. Electrician's Math and a brief note on "Testing Your Answer for Reasonableness." The rest of the units are what I'd expect as well as more "tests" than I'd expected to see. Happy to see those for general test preparation. At the end of each Unit are Review Questions, Challenge Questions, 2 Practice Quizzes (one straight order and one random order) and a Challenge Quiz. At the end of the book are Challenge Exams. It looks like they give straight answers for basic questions, answers and "how to do the math" when needed, and finally for the Challenge Exams, the exact spot in the code book to find your answer. *Bought the 2017 version on accident. A 2014 version might have been a better choice for CA Electrical Test Prep (still testing on 2014 Codebook) as many questions/examples in the test prep book deal with new code changes. That said, it was still very helpful and workable (see below). EDIT: I just passed the CA Residential Electrician Certification Test on the first try. WOULD NOT HAVE PASSED had I not used this book. Maybe you would, but the presentation of information, REPETITION of information and going through almost the entire book and questions helped me be prepared and LESS STRESSED for the test (so important), understand/flesh out concepts I hadn't quite gotten through classes and most importantly understand the codebook and how to find information in it in ways I didn't get from class...you learn through repetition and doing, right?! Good luck to you! BTW, yes, there are errors in the book. Do yourself a favor and look the known ones up online (there's info in the beginning of the book that tells you where to go) and correct them in your book before you start. It will save a lot of headache (or at least some :). These folks have a formidable task of dealing with the monotony of the code and cranking out useful prep materials. If you are so inclined, you can help the next guy out by emailing them with additional things that need to be corrected when you come across it. Review: All you need for an electrical licensing exam - I've used Mike Holt's books before and have been very pleased but this one far exceeded my expectations. The book is very thorough with clear, straight to the point explanations, and plenty of illustrations. Whether it's electrical theory, motor calculations, or sizing a service, this book has it all and much more. It's worth every single penny.

Awesome book!
I used this for a few months to study for my NH electricians journeyman exam. It is a very big help for refreshing the must knows on your exam. It helped me pass on my first attempt. A little expensive, but its worth it and will save you money by not having to pay for retesting if you fail. Prep courses are expensive and are dependent on how well you can take notes and can listen. Use this, study your NEC, bingo.

A nice primer but does not cover all of the test in the state of Florida
I have taken the test and can tell you that this book is only marginally Capable of preparing you. The book does not cover some of the questions for the different aspects of what you will be tested on. There are at least 10 questions that are not covered in any way shape or form. Take his class!

Excellent prep but there are others
Excellent prep but there are others, It doesn't cover everything! I found out the hard way. Went to take N.C. test and was blind sided, very little of his prep was on exam. Lots of NFPA 72 fire alarm was not covered also business law witch made up over 20% of my test . I know it won't and can"t cover everything but this is the same exam used in across at least 7 states.

Mike Holt's Journey man Exam "It works first time"
When my husband went for his Journey mans license, his employer sent him to some class. It frustrated and confused him. He failed the first time. I ordered the Mike Holt's Prep Exam. He passed and was done over 20 mins. early. This Prep Exam Works.

Great study guide for your Journeyman and Master Electricians Exam!!!
I find this book to be a life saver! Mike Holt communications the terminology of our trade very well. I especially like the picture diagrams which help aid with understanding. All in all I give this book a 10 out of 10.
