I Am Not Sleepy and I Will Not Go to Bed (Charlie and Lola)

I purchased this book as a gift for my 2 year old niece who does not like going to sleep. It has quickly become a favorite of her’s as well as her parents! The illustrations are colorful and provide just enough stimulation before bedtime.Like Lola, my niece has an active imagination and going through Lola’s bedtime routine helps her learn to settle down at night. Such a cute & creative story I will definitely be purchasing more Charlie and Lola books!

This is it! It's also one of my most definitely very favourite books too!My 19 month old is the new Queen of bedtime diversion, she requests potty time, teeth to be brushed, more potty time, milk, eat....anything to delay the bedtime process. This book is great for a giggle and she likes that Lola drinks pink milk(she drinks the horizon strawberry milk, it's not pink but we call it pink just like Lola's)I was never a huge fan of Goodnight Moon, nor any other particularly 'twee' bedtime book, but I have to say, this is the new bedtime classic in our family! Lola is so precious. If we could bottle her curiousity and imagination and sell it we'd be very very rich! Well done Lauren Childs, you deserve every penny for creating such a splendid series of childrens books!

My daughter is 2 1/2 and this book is her favorite. The design is very colorful and interesting, and the dialogue between the characters, Lola and her brother Charlie, is the way real kids talk. Lola doesn't want to go to bed, and it is Charlie's job to get her there. Lola has quite an imagination and Charlie must give bedtime drinks to imaginary tigers, shoo a whale down the drain before Lola can bathe, etc. This book is great for toddlers. Lauren Child's Clarice Bean books are for older kids, but my daughter also loves those too, as does my six year old niece. The best are Clarice Bean, That's Me, and What Planet are you from, Clarice Bean?

The entire Charlie and Lola series of books and tv shows are charming and engaging for young readers. This is a perfect book for bedtime for anyone 1 - 5 years old.

My kids loved this book, and I wore out our copy reading it to them again and again. Little Lola lives inside her imagination as do other small children, and the book takes us right into Lola's head, as her patient big brother takes her through each step of getting ready for bed, involving a number of imaginary creatures. Lauren Child's illustrations are clever and original and kids really like them.

I would recommend purchasing the book if your children or grandchildren know Charlie and Lola from TV. I'm not crazy about them, but the grandchildren love them and the book.

This is another one on my daughter's summer reading list. She really likes the show and she really enjoyed the story. It's short enough for her to read herself. Like the title says, Lola, the little sister, is not sleepy and will not go to bed until a whole list of imaginary characters are dealt with. Luckily, Charlie's very patient and not like most big brothers (who prefer to give their little sisters nightmares) and he settles all of Lola's imaginary friends' unreasonable demands. My daughter enjoyed it because like Lola, she could probably stay up clock around if we let her, and getting her in bed is sometimes an ordeal. Overall, I think most kids would like it.

My daughter (2 yrs) loves all the Charlie & Lola books. We read this one so often she can almost quote it! The book goes through all the fun watching Charlie help Lola get ready for bed. It's very imaginative and the illustrations are very unique!The book is quite big! It is a soft cover book but the pages are very thick and glossy. They won't tear easily at all.

Read these books when I was young and have now bought them for my child. Sadly the front cover is a newer design and not the old one that is pictured so this should be updated as I was a bit disappointed with the new style. Of course this doesn't take away from the fact that it's a fab book for younger children.

My 2 year old son loves Charlie and Lola and this is perfect for him as he doesn’t always love going to bed!
