The sides had a film of stain, that came off after the bio-erase circulated through. I also used Bio-guard Pool Magnet (helps grab stain and filter through), and Bio-guard Sparkle up (helps clean filter). I haven't had any problems since I used all three products. My water sparkles. **Q: Can it be used for above ground pool** A: This will lift iron stains from any surface. **Q: can it be used in a pool with a heater?** A: It has zero bearing on heater equipment or any other equipment!
