Just What I needed
This study guide is an excellent tool for a group discussion on PTSS. I remember first watching Dr. Joy DeGruy talking about this on PBS about 20 years ago. I had the pleasure of obtaining the video series and was facsinated by her findings and discovery. Fast forward to 2023 and I am speaking on mental health in the black community and how can I talk about this subject without included the outstanding work, Dr. DeGruy already uncovered on this subject. This study guide is just what I needed.

Joy DeGruy could not have done more of a service ...
It seems obvious that if people who were watching the buildings collapse during 9/11 were traumatised by that watching for many years afterwards and if soldiers who signed up for a four year stint are traumatized by their war experience and need counseling for years afterwards in order that they dont infect their families with more trauma, that a people who were traumatized over 400 years of chattel slavery would pass on their trauma if not for some sort of guidance to make sense of who they are and why. Joy DeGruy could not have done more of a service to our people by exposing this obvious fact in such an eloquently simple title and well written book. "Let the Healing Begin" she says, And it does.

Very, very good read ,The more I read about the mind set of the type of people who could inflict such truma on another human. And to start to understand that type of trauma would make any human suffer from traumatic Slave Syndrome. Very well done.Thank You for the experience,I've learned much more.
