A must purchase
All parents need this set. We use the large Hatch with light every night. We have a setting for sleep and a setting for feeding. I don’t need to turn on any extra lamps to feed. I also love that in the morning when I put the bassinet in the nursery so baby can get a little more sleep and I can get ready, the larger Hatch can transport from the dock temporarily to the nursery. The travel one, on the other hand, we brought to the hospital and I now bring around the house with me when I’m trying to soothe in other locations. I will also be using on walks since baby is quite a fussy napped. I don’t know what we’d do without both of them!

Most frustrating device I've ever used.
I am no stranger to sound machines as I own too many to count at this point - well over a dozen. The product packaging is top notch and I was sincerely impressed by the unboxing experience which rivaled what I would expect from a high end device. Great job to the package engineering team. The hardware looks very sleek and modern. I figured this is going to be an easy 5 star review from here on out. How wrong I was!I plugged the base into the power adapter and then placed the speaker on top of the base. I didn't see any activity but figured I'd give it a few hours to charge. My daughter was really excited to test out her sound machine so after a few hours I figured I'd pull it off the charger, press the power button, and see what happens. Nothing. Ok so maybe the wireless charger is defective, I plugged the power adapter directly into the speaker and finally the speaker showed signs of life. I let it charge that way for a few minutes then I tried using it.Unfortunately there is no way to use this without downloading the app. I really don't need Yet Another App on my phone especially not for something so simplistic. Why would the design team butcher the user experience by requiring an app? If the app was optional then great, but for this product it is required!Normally this would have been a return back to Amazon at this point but I am doing a review just for you so I went ahead and reluctantly installed the app. After installing the app it now asks for my email address. Sorry Hatch, we're not in that kind of relationship. Maybe after dinner and a movie? Well I provided a throwaway email address just to get it to connect. While it was setting the device up (installing firmware updates or uploading sound libraries I presume?) it gave me the option of previewing some songs. When I clicked play, it played them from my tablet's speakers instead of through the Hatch's speakers. I kid you not. Finally after a few minutes of setup the app was able to play a few sample sounds on the speaker. My daughter really just wanted this to play music from her tablet through Bluetooth and for the lights so I figured while this device was overkill we could still make it work. The user interface has a really unintuitive paradigm where you have to set up scene sequences (I forget exactly what they called them) and then touching the ring on the top of the speaker cycles through the scenes. This assumes that a person wants to have the exact same scene sequence every day which couldn't be further from the desired operation.I was unable to figure out how to just get the thing to play music via Bluetooth from my daughter's tablet while cycling through the rainbow color of lights. That was all she wanted this for. She is not old enough to read yet but she can easily use the other sound machines without issue.Within a few seconds a popup asked my for payment information to start my free trial. This thing costs $120 and it now requires an additional subscription fee to use it? NO WAY am I providing payment info for just another subscription that I'm going to forget to cancel before the free trial ends. Declined. After all this wasted time my daughter was very disappointed in the device. She wants the same speaker her brother has which costs a small fraction of this, looks cooler, and does not require an app. This is one of the most disappointing devices I've ever had the opportunity to review since I had such high expectations of it when seeing it at first but the user experience is horrible. This is an unusable product which is unfortunately making its way to the trash. I usually donate things I don't use but I don't want another person to get stuck with subscription fees when there are countless other devices that have built in sounds for free.Even if they offered the service for free I would still not use this as the device is crippled by being useless without the app. Do they really think that using a bright tablet screen to control this in a dark room is a good idea? The whole point of a device like this should be to get away from phones/tablets at night. What a waste of nice hardware.

Versatile Sleep Machine
I love the concept of the Hatch Rest and the portable Rest Go. The portable unit is very cool, and the main device is great for bedtime routines with its nightlight and customizable sounds and lights. It’s a bit pricey and there’s a learning curve, but once you get used to it, it’s a handy, modern sleep solution for both kids and adults

Amazing bundle- must have for new baby!
I received a Hatch product for my first baby and just had to have this bundle! The nightlight is so helpful to pick up from the base and put where you need it. Wonderful for late night changes or feedings, night light for older kiddos, and I love the option to add a message from loved ones (so sweet). The portable sound machine has been such a great diaper bag addition to keep my baby calm as we are out and about.

Well Intention Idea But Not So Well Planned Products
When it comes to being a handy helper when you are already overwhelmed with babies or toddlers, the intention of this product is great, providing white noise to the little one to help them get the sleep they need. But the whoops you have to jump through to figure out how to use it is another time investment itself. As a pricey technology tool at $119.99 (at the time of this writing), do you really have time to read the instruction and follow it to explore all the nooks and crannies, most of time we just want a device that works, not necessarily has been connected through Apps. But it is good to have an App that works well with the device. The portable device works well all by itself. and there are many options to play with. We are using this at our daycare setting. We would say we are only using 10% of what it can do, there is still lots to learn and explore.

Coolest thing ever..
I know this was designed for children but I fell in love with the concept and wanted it for myself. We are using the portable sound player for my grandson because it helps him sleep and saves having to play ambient noise over a cell phone. It charges and plays all night and then some on a full charge but we keep that plugged into a wall block and turn it on at bedtime. The big unit Ive set up to remind me of the time (wind down) when it's getting late and then goes into night light mode with a wake with sound and changing color lights. This is capable of so many cool things with the app. I think for a child touching the ring activates steps so can easily be thrown off its course so Id set this up higher out of reach. It's great because different color lights and sounds can keep them on a schedule especially a sleep schedule. I love it mysel.
